Mine has lasted about 4 years. I also launch by myself a lot and using a bungee type launch rope, guide my boat onto concrete. The Keel Shield did its job, but now it’s time to replace it. Sounds as if removing it will be much more difficult than the installation.

sux... i am SO GENTLE with mine precisely for that reason. Not because i am afraid for the boat, but because i don't want to replace it..

Your wife and you did a nice looking job. Seems nice and straight and well attached! Now time to relax and let it dry! Have to give us a review on it after a couple seasons. Definitely better than tearing up your keel!

yup. Otherwise this rubber is real thick. This rubber is not gona wear out. If I get 3 years out of it, i'd be happy and buy another one. I did a second layer around the whole thing of my own marine glue

Keep guard is not recommended for hulls like the one in the video. Air bubbles water and dirt will work the guard off over just a short amount of time. Only recommend for smooth hulls without seams and rivets.

This comments just shows how smart i can be sometimes. I filled the holes on the front and on the back with a soft marine glue called Marine Goop. It looks absolutely perfect even today, even though i beach the boat every time i fish Nickajack dam. There is no other way to boat there but beach hard in the concrete/rock bank there. This thing probably saved my boat or i would have had to stop fishing there

If you do use silicone for edge, I would suggest the aquarium silicone product for sealing joints. I would personally use a butyl product such as automotive windshield adhesive. Thanks for the video good idea for boat.

i have this marine glue called Marine Goop that i use for everything on my boat. I but 12 packs of it and use it for a few years. The sides worked our perfect, but the front and back are still a little edgy and im thinking how to smooth them out

I doubt it. I expect the price to be under Vanford. So I am already thinking about what did they remove from the vanford.. There are two versions above the vanford, but no versions of vanford under vanford..

Does Diawa usually show anything at Icast? I cannot seem to find anything new. As for shimano, are we only looking at the Miravel for potential ultralight? Seems like a worse (although better looking) Ultegra? A little disappointed.

Its not ultegra, its carbon, so most likely some vanford

Is it plastic? You should have heated it up to form it. I would have beveled the end at a 45 degree angle with a razor blade so it’s not a hard edge.

its rubber or some kind of silicone. But it is thick.. No heat, heat will probably damage or melt something.. It says u can use it right away, but my own glue that i put on the edges needs 24 hours, so probably no boat fishing tomorrow, unless i go in the afternoon...

@@ifishcatfish good video. Good to know stuff when I buy a boat in a few years. Use a piece of scrap and apply heat, see if it discolors, from the back of course. I would say the areas where you used a lot of glue needs more drying time, and considering the inside is not exposed to air.
