Metal is just a modern version of Classical music. Well certain sub genres are anyways. And A.J. the lead guitarist for this band is a classically trained musician that has a Master's in music.

Beethoven is a god of music. He’d use his knowledge and ear to reach precisely any emotion or presentation he desired. He even wrote a fucking jazz excerpt in one of his sonatas unintentionally, out of trying to find a specific sort of happiness or specific emotion. He died 80 years before jazz was around. He was well ahead of his time in many aspects.

I can't believe that a great song like this is receiving so many ignorant comments. Progressive metal is suppose to be an acquired taste. Everyone who stops listening at 3:14 is not giving this masterpiece the chance it deserves. Once you listen to it a few times you will be able to enjoy the entire song just as much, if not even more than the first 3:14.

Without the guitars being mixed very high toned, then the low toned bass guitar, piano and rhythm tracks will make the entire master sound muddy. Guitars were mixed high toned to avoid muddy sound. Learn about the mixing and mastering of music if you don't understand what I mean. Basically bass guitar, bass drum, and piano have mainly low freq. Drum cymbals have high freq. Drum toms have mid freq. Since there is too much instruments in the low freq. range; the guitars were mixed in the mid/high.

It's been so long now, but if I remember correctly they mentioned this song never got to get the proper mixing/mastering treatment as the actual album songs from the Digital Veil sessions (which is when this was recorded). I don't remember if they explicitly said why they never finished it, but I'm assuming maybe something financially related?

One guitarist will often record more than one guitar part. Bullet For My Valentine, for example, often had as many as 4 or 5 parts. Ozzy does it too, and I believe Black Sabbath. That's not to say it's rare -- bands do it all over the place. Those are just ones I know.

Production was really off on this. There's this grainy fucking static sound that muffles the shit out of the sound of the song whenever the distortion is on the guitars. Must be the reverb of what I'm assuming is a crash cymbal not mixing well with the distortion. Really spoiled the whole sound and ruined what could have been a true masterpiece of a cover.

This is the kind of comment that renews people's belief that people who listen to classical music are stuck up, This is a brilliant arrangement of a brilliant piece of music and people just come and poke holes in it.Very shameful, you're never going to get the depth of sound from guitars than you would from a full orchestra, that should be obvious.

In what aspect does the recording sound bad? I think that the way it was mixed was like that on purpose. It's not the quality that is terrible, but perhaps the mixing was mixed this way in order to leave room for all the instruments. In case you didn't know there is probably more than 20 tracks playing on this song. In order to make room for multiple tracks playing at the same time, the mixer mixed the guitars very mid and treble toned. The reason of this is to leave room in the mix for bass.

Clipping, in the official tracks! PERIOD It's not like NOONE has NEVER mixed music with more than your typlical 3-5 pieces playing at once. It's been done before and better. And since the band didn't actually have a say in this release, the idiots who wents behind their backs to put this up obviously didn't know what they were doing.

I mentioned it in another comment, but at the time this track was released THA mentioned that it never got properly mixed/mastered like the other songs from the Digital Veil sessions (which is when this was also recorded). As I understand this was never meant to be the final mix.
