Let's go on a Synth Pop journey with this week's Friday Funk Jam, The Human League - "Don't You Want Me". 🎹🍸🤷‍♀️
I'm using the Akai MPC X, Roland SH2 (My very first synth!) and the Roland Jupiter 4 with some very quick patch changes. 😜

Best cover I've seen. Extremely hard for one synth player to recreate this multi synth 80s classic. So I just pop it into Reason 8.3 and let the ID8 poplulate all the tracks, run it through my 50 watt stereo and let the good times roll!

I wonder if you need a lot of compression or equalizer to make these kind of reproductions. I like the raw synth sound and compressions makes the whole better but the synthsound less. For instance kids mgmt the octave arp. Can someone give general advice about this?

I have a request 😁 As a child in England in the early eighties, there was a short programme on BBC 2 called Ski Sunday. To list the competitors they used an instrumental cut of "The things that dreams are made of", by Human League. The Dare album has vocals. I have never since heard that incredible instrumental version.

Well....a brand spakin" new piece of equipment surrounded by vintage assistance. Yea I noticed that Akai right off. I have been seriously considering the MPCx so to eliminate all the constant frustration of; limited measures for a loop, bad sounding effects, only stereo or mono outputs, no 5pinMIDI connections or multiple MIDI outs, horrible operating systems with tiny screens, knobs and buttons without LED labels, limited quantize options, or no option to turn it off at all, bad AD/DA converters making re-mix sound like digital crap, no solo function to turn on and off tracks.....and the list goes on. Seems all the beat boxes have massive limitations except...maybe...the MPCx???
