This song, which I recommended to you long ago, was produced by Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam, who wrote and produced all of The SOS Band's hit songs, as well as most of Janet Jackson's hit songs. You can hear their house sound here. I've always really loved this cut. Now, contrast this with Jeffery Osborne's take on the same theme, with his song "Human".

Such a smooth and melodic song with nice vocals...and I always loved that little twist...he's saying he cheated while they were apart "to fill a place of emptiness" but asking for forgiveness because he's "only human" (the same as so many songs by male singers), but then she comes back with "while we were apart, I was human too"! Such an ironic twist, using his own language. Not an all time great, but just a very nice, enjoyable song! Enjoyed your reaction too, James! ❤️✌🏻✌🏻❤️

There was an honesty about artists back in the day, they still were marketed in order to sell, but it was about their talent and what made them original and what they brought to the table as artists, nowadays mainstream music and artists look and sound too similar and lack creative freedom and what makes them "Human", they just follow trends.

Usually anything from the 80s/90s is a slam dunk. It was before the digital age, before autotune, before spectacle over substance, so artists had to rely on true talent to make it big. There was no "fake it til you make it" back then -- if you didn't have talent, you simply weren't going to make it.

I always loved this song. But I didn't quite get what he was saying until I was much older lol. He's asking her forgiveness for sleeping with another woman. "I just needed someone to hold me." Now, being 44, I've learned that if they've done it once and you forgive them, they will do it again lol. Still love the song, but yea, I'll forgive the guy, then kick him out lol.
