It's actually extremely obvious what the rope was for... They never filmed the box floating out in the water without the rope, given that he was *never inside* while the box was in the water. The rope was simply there to pull the empty box back after filming it, since they needed the box later on for him to film himself with the box and pretend that he had just "arrived" on the shore in France. They didn't want to lose the box just to pretend he was floating away, so they came up with a bullshit explanation for attaching a rope. I mean, there were like 200 red flags in the video, that just SCREAMED fake. Such as the fact that "water tight" also means *AIR TIGHT* , which in turn means that he would've been brain dead after about 15 minutes. Also, duct tape can't withstand water, so the whole idea falls apart completely. But despite all this, 95% of all people who watched the video believes that it's real, which is extremely frustrating and tragic. I mean, many of the people who believed it are grown adults, who get to vote in presidential elections and stuff. That is VERY scary, if you ask me. My brothers step son watches stuff like this, and when I went to visit him he told me he was going to mail himself across the world because it was cheaper. He honestly thought this was an amazing cheaper alternative to explore the world. (He is about 9 years old) I tried to explain to him that what he saw was fake and bad idea, yet he was so convinced because he saw it on a KZbin video. This is honestly a horribly issue, because impressionable children in real life HONESTLY think this is a cool idea. the problem I think people have with this video is there was little to no editing or comedy, most of it was just direct criticism, and I think that might have something to do with Hila usually doing camerawork (and helping write jokes) for their videos, which made the video more stationary and in that sense a bit limited, there was very little parody, no skits, it's not unreasonable for fans to say this video wasn't that great, I don't think it was bad though, but from h3h3 we've just come to expect better, everyone has hits and misses
