Welcome, welcome, welcome.
I welcome everything that comes to me today because I know it’s for my healing.
I welcome all thoughts, feelings, emotions, persons, situations, and conditions.
I let go of my desire for power and control.
I let go of my desire for affection, esteem, approval, and pleasure.
I let go of my desire for survival and security.
I let go of my desire to change any situation, condition, person, or myself.
I open to the love and presence of God, and God’s healing action within.
Amen.

I was a dedicated member at Willowcreek during a period when everything seemed to be going well, until it wasn't. I guess it was a matter of pride and ego in many ways. We, as a congregation, were touched by something that was disturbing.. We were not that admired church any longer. It took time to recover from the fall, but, many of us dealt with it None of us is entirely without flaws. There has to be forgiveness, and learn that Christ is trustworthy always. Human beings fall, and, also get up and live, despite the times we fall down.

I love this prayer. To let go of survival and security really got me today. It made me realize that as an abuse survivor, survival is what I want and who I am. It is also what makes it very hard to surrender because I’m afraid God will want me to do something scary. It’s hard to trust Him in that.

I gave it a thumbs down not because I don’t like Steve or John. But other than the Welcoming prayer, Steve danced all around the issue and gigantic problem that happened at Willow Creek. John Mark Comer spoke a few days ago about the gap between what we hear from the pulpit and what happens in real life. I think it would have been so helpful for Steve to explain what happened as he did back in 2021 with Carey Niewhof. The world needs to know that we in the church mess up royally sometimes and we need to name it and turn away from it; repent. We get such bad press so often. Know that I think this podcast is superb. Can you, however, narrow that gap some?
