Usually seen them in late day to evening into night. They seem to love my 4 o'clocks. They would come every year .

I live in Northern Canada, and I seen them last year (2019) for the first time, and to my amazement they are back again this year, I love these amazing little creatures, so I have planted more flowers and hope they come back again and again.

I saw one once. I will never forget. It’s like a little bird. I actually was so surprised I contacted an insect expert because I truly couldn’t believe what I had seen. They told me it was a hummingbird moth. Such a cute thing. I will truly never forget. We don’t have hummingbirds in the UK. But this was very similar but still clearly an insect. If I ever see one again I will consider myself truly blessed.

I've never seen a hummingbird moth but apparently we have snowberry clearwing moths here, in the west. Neat creature. I enjoyed researching it and look forward to giving my children a lesson. Thanks for the inspiration! Mrs. P

I 'am from sri lanka. Your story is completely true ... I have seen this beautifully .... I'm small when it goes to visit the flower ... it's a beautiful sight ... every evening they come ... but they are fast ... .. then they can not see their eyes ....

You see how the camera wasn't able to catch the speed of the wings and it looks like the thing was gently flapping it's wings, thats because the frames were likely in synch with the flaps, apparently you can see the same happen with helicopters xD

I saw my first ever hummingbird moth in my garden in France earlier today; beautiful creature. If I see any larvae I'll see what I can do to protect the cocoons over the winter.

They are really bizarre creatures but beautiful. I've never seen the larvae but that's a good idea to see if you can protect the cocoons.

I've been fortunate in seeing humming birds in Ohio and California, plus humming bird moths here in Phuket Thailand, which fooled me at first, then finding out humming birds don't exist here in Thailand.
