My English grandparents knew of certain "unsavory" tales which originated along the borders of England and Scotland. My grandparents also told me about the beautiful female vampire of Irish folklore -- The Dearg-Due. Many thanks, Eerie Edinburgh, for this exquisitely creepy tale.

@@eerieedinburgh It's very possible that Bram Stoker knew of the tale of the Dearg-Due. That beautiful vampire was supposed to have long red hair. Unless I'm mistaken, the character "Lucy" in Stoker's "Dracula" had long red hair. I heard once of a beautiful female vampire of Scottish lore. I can't recall the name of that preternatural creature. Many thanks! Cheers! -- W --

Thank You for another excellent video . As a Scottish person ( Clan Robertson) , I have always been interested in the Clan rivalry . Many years ago I worked with a colleague who was half Apachie ( hope I spelled that correctly ) . He explained to me that many of the Native American tribes had long rivalries going back centuries . 😮 Human nature is complicated I guess .

I am an Irish and Scottish Smith, with Cornish and Danish ancestry. I am told that Smiths existed in every clan, but this has been disputed by a Scottish friend who claims Smiths are actually Clan McGowan. I know this isn't an ancestry site, but curious if anyone knows what's right off hand.....?

Another excellent recount of good creepy fun! Your delivery is really effective in setting the mood. On a semi-related note, have you ever read George MacDonald Fraser's, "Steel Bonnets"? It is a thorough and really exciting history of the border clashes. Ah, those zany Elliotts and Armstrongs!! LOL! And if you want to get a really good laugh, you should try his quite fanciful (but largely historically accurate), "The Reavers." Definitely for adults only! Cheers from Canada!

I am sure it was Melrose Abbey I visited many years ago with my mum and brothers. Both she and I saw a tall figure in one corner who seemed oblivious to those around. She and I briefly discussed this as we left and we overheard someone else behind us say the place was supposed to have a ghost, well that made us "smartly" walk out. Now, it may have just been some random innocent guy but then again... 😱

I felt like the whole staircase is "his" area and he was there to show us the way but no more, he's not overly friendly.
