However it became real over time when Katniss realized that she did in fact love him for real. Though they did have kids...a girl and boy....I think's even confirmed that their names were Willow and Rye. Though the films have their son the older one and the girl younger. I like how it’s so obvious that Haymitch has already made his decision about which of the two of them he’s going to put his energy into backing to survive. Even with this being Peata’s move for sympathy with the capital, he’s focused on coaching Katnis to use it for her advantage. Sadly, it is what makes the most practical sense since at that point he can’t save them both, and I’d like to think at this point Peata had already somewhat decided that the most meaningful way he could die would be also being useful for her survival.

This is absolutely true. It’s sad but Peeta doesn’t want the Capitol to change him, he wants to die as he is. He knows he can’t win on skill and absolutely refuses to kill Katniss. So this is one thing I commend him for, trying his best to help her have the best odds.

I actually quite like the host as a character, at least in the books. It is stated that he tries his best to help each one of the tributes show their best side, he gives everyone a fighting chance. Not saying that he is a good person, or that he isn't preparing kids for slaughter, but he could be less helpful. He could pick favorites and sabotage all the other interviews, for example. I can respect his efforts. That's the thing about most Capitol citizens, actually. They don't seem to be universally 100% bad people, with a few exceptions. It's not black and white.

I think the two victors rule was a panic reaction (the announcer yelling at them to stop and that they've both won) from the gamemakers because Katniss and Peeta were about to commit a double suicide with the berries since they didn't want to kill each other. If the double suicide pushed through then there would be no victor and that would have been a failure of the games. Though, Snow still saw it as a failure so he killed off Crane

Honestly, it's just interesting from a pure human perspective. On on side you have Katniss, convinced she will kill and do what's best to win the games birthed out of human survival instinct and love for family. The other side Peeta, playing off the emotional and intelligence game plus with ths fact his love is in the arena, each have different tactics yet use them gracefully. It's trurly fascinating.
