I had watched all the movies before reading the first book, and they definitely don’t feel as good in comparison. With that said, I’m not sure how they could have done a better job in the movies without the benefit of Katniss’ inner dialogue
@darlingxluxii7977 Жыл бұрын
It’s properly due to low budget with the first film and lack of time with the making

Right, book is better than the movie bcoz it explains everything, whereas movie felt like they are trying to make it as short as possible by not including scenes and characters(drunken haymitch, mayor's daughter madge) that are well explained in the book, even emotions are manifested better in book than movie.
@DipUniversal3 жыл бұрын
Well Haymitch was drunk but nowhere near as much in basically every way
@nappyk963 жыл бұрын
Haymitch is a drunk in the movie too to be fair but he's nowhere near as bad as he is in the book in the first book he's a complete mess of a man by the time Katniss meets him which is understandable if you know his backstory.

I almost threw up watching movie they almost didnt put any flash back from her past
@nappyk963 жыл бұрын
@@matijaivanov915 The only flashback in the first movie if I remember correctly is the bread scene which was really disappointing to me because they didn't even bother to get a kid actress for that one scene they just had Jennifer Lawrence do it even though Katniss is supposed to be like 11 at that point.
@Bole_to_rahul3 жыл бұрын
@@nappyk96 they were trying to use as less characters as they could, that's why they didn't cast mayor's daughter, i didn't remember properly but someone was also missing where katnis was staying for practice before hunger games began. I guess red hair girl and her someone.

for me who has never read the books, the movies by itself is pretty good. but in comparison, maybe not. But ppl have to remember that it’s gonna be hard for a movie to capture everything

It is really hard I agree. live action films are hard to do

I love the movies and the books, but the books are definitely better. The first and the second movies are almost the same thing as the books, they did an amazing job, they cut only things that it was okay cutting out. But the Mockingjay was way better in the book. I never truly understood the end of the trilogy watching the movies, but when I read the third book, I got everything and just loved it!

Ik that riot scene wasn’t told in the books, but it makes sense bc everything was told through katniss’ pov in the books. She wouldn’t have known anything going on in the districts during her time at the arena 😭 Visually tho I like the inclusion bc that riot would be something similar to happen in our reality ie police brutality protests after a citizen, young and old, was murdered by said police. I’ll have to reread it again bc I haven’t had it in my hands since 7th grade.

I think the films are fantastic but I am with you on the ratings. I know in the books it was more gruesome and showed more graphic deaths while in the films it was tamer. Due to ratings and preventing the shock value of young characters getting killed off I guess.
@petebuis543 Жыл бұрын
I totally agree with your assessment of the cast except that Woody is perfect for Hamich. Again knowing your target audience is young adults they showed him always drinking and talked about his addiction but didn’t depict it as he was completely hammered 90% of the time. Someone said earlier too that the biggest drawback in the movies is the lack of her inner monologue. Which they compensated pretty well for with the good dialogue scenes that weren’t in the book but let us in on whats happening.

I actually enjoyed that they added the game maker because it allows them to portray the thoughts that happen in peoples minds to be acted out. My least favorite part that they changed movie to book was they took all the humor out of Peta's character, scenes like him asking while hidden, "are you here to finish me off?" or "remember we're madly in love so you can kiss me any time you want." otherwise I only noticed minor differences like the crown not being two pieces, or what she exactly said while climbing the tree to get away. I though it was a great movie to film adaptation and I'm actually seeing this video because I'm also excited about the Percy Jackson show hopefully being a good adaptation as well.

Not much??? The ending was a huge downgrade. Peta nearly died in the books cause of his bleeding and whole stress in the shows after wasn't portrayed.
@timothyblack10989 ай бұрын
@Nitrox_909 I get that they changed it but I'm not mad that they did, it makes more sense that way than to have him constantly fighting and then only at the very end losing function of his leg, and the author has him lose his leg at the end and then just "forgets?" About it, there's like no other mention of it later, he's not even missing it after being tortured.
@Nitrox_9099 ай бұрын
@@timothyblack1098 Yeah i don't mind that it isn't in the movie aswell but it was still a big part in the story of the 1st book. Haven't read the other books so can't say something about that.
@timothyblack10987 ай бұрын
Lol, it's not much of a spoiler, it's just that his leg literally never gets mentioned after the first book.

I like all books a little more than the movies bc they're so much more detailed. The difference between the first book and the first movie, which I hate the most, was how Katniss got the mockingjay pin. I know that it doesn't make sense to put Madge Undersee into the movies, bc Katniss doesn't communicate so often with her. But in the books, she got the pin from Madge AFTER the reaping ceremony and it gave her luck, so she not only survived the games, she also came back with Peeta. And in the movies, she found it on the black market on the reaping day, got it for free and gave it to her sister BEFORE the reaping, so that Prim wouldn't be chosen. From ppl who only saw the movies, Katniss got a lot of hate for that, bc the meaning was changed completely. It was like bad luck for Prim and a lot of ppl blamed Katniss for Prim being reaped. I think there would've been other ways to give Katniss the pin AFTER the reaping.

I just read the book & then watched the movie again. The book made me hate the movie! The book was very detailed and exciting! The movie felt rushed and watered down. While I understand they can’t fit EVERYTHING into the movie, some things I wish they would have spent more time on.

I don't really agree with this and i know that everyone has different views on this argument, but i did not like the Hunger Games movie. Okay, all the points you made about the absence of music at the reaping and everything is all fine, BUT BOY DOES KATNISS CRY TO MUCH. At the start you said she was a strong character WHO WASNT SCARED TO SHOW EMOTION. Thats all she shows during the movie. And you hardly see her smile, even when shes with Gale and meant to be happy and show how everything is fine (or as fine as you can get ) in district 12. When prim dies at the end youre meant to see how sad and broken Katniss becomes without her sister. But because Katniss is so sad and broken for majority of the book, it really doesnt have that same impact The casting was perfect like you said but i also really liked how Haymitch was portrayed even if he wasn't as drunk like he was in the book. The funny thing is i think him and Gale were the only two perfect actors in the whole film whereas people don't like them as much. And again, i have a really unpopular opinion on this whole thing and thats fine with me but if anyone disagrees i really want to see why and if i was just interpreting the movies wrong the whole time Yeah. I think i like the books more.
@nappyk963 жыл бұрын
When you mention Prim dying at the end did you by chance mean Rue? Prim doesn't die in the first book or movie so just curious if you were confusing her with Rue. Also I mostly agree with you on the book being better but one thing that they did change for the movie that I kinda liked was that they made Cato's death pretty quick and painless in comparison to the books version of the scene which genuinely made me uncomfortable reading it.

Anytime I read the book before watching the movie, I can’t enjoy the movie. The other way around is fine though
