I must say that Hunger Games Catching fire is the best science fiction movie I had seen in a long while. I think that is the category but either way I loved it.

Much better than the first one. HIGH Matinee! After seeing this, it really sucks that Phil Hoffman is dead. He was great in it, as he was in every other thing he's done. R.I.P.

Still one of the best movies of 2013 10 years later and this is 100x better than the last movie!!! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time seeing how the filmmakers improved so many things this time around making it darker and more mature Director Francis Lawrence makes the scope of the movie bigger with better effects, better acting, so much of the shaky cam is gone thank god, sharp cinematography, I absolutely love the newer characters so much, the music is so intense by James Newton Howard, and one part in particular made it so emotionally searing because it’s that good The romance is only slightly focused on yet they don’t heavily weigh you down with it I really love the jungle setting too; I thought it was genius the creators making new challenges for them from baboons to jabberjays to poison gas to raining blood There’s also some striking political and social commentary/allegory about starting a revolution, war, media propaganda, secret surveillance, entertainment for the sake of it, fascist governments, and controlling the public’s perception The only thing stronger than fear is hope, it only takes one spark to ignite the flame, we have to remember who the real enemy is, there’s always a flaw in the system, one person can influence entire establishments even being ordinary The movie is another pure example of how a sequel is done right, it’s the ‘Empire Strikes Back’ of the series Lawrence has done a spectacular job adapting the book while also transcending it’s thought-provoking themes of class, politics, social undertones, and the inherent cyclical violence of entertainment, and it’s not bogged by down by a flimsy romance or a dumb lead An amazing cliffhanger too, ‘Catching Fire’ ups the stakes by leaps and bounds making it far superior than its predecessor

The movie turns 6 today! Still the best film in the series Loved it 100x better than the last one No shaky cam, plenty of themes about propaganda, invasion of privacy, and the dangerous act of revolution The jungle arena was genius and freaking love the newer characters
