Not enough Johanna or Finnick in the last two movies. I was really sad about the awesome scenes of those two from the books.

Yeah i definetly wanted more johanna, she was heavily underused, more finnick would have also been more awesome

I've always felt that Johanna and Finnick's stories were the best parts of the book, it's a shame they cut 90% of it out.

IKR. Same with Haymitch too. The way Katniss and Johanna motivated each other and bonded in the books from that were some of my favorite book scenes.

It’s really sad how they omitted Johanna’s and Katniss’ friendship in the movies. In the books they really became close and I think it’s another sign how Katniss needed people that understand what she went through in her life. At first, when Peeta wasn’t there in 13, she had a great bond with Finnick, he understood her (more than Gale in many aspects). Then Annie came back and Katniss became friends with Johanna, they even lived together! I think it highlights how Katniss needed people with similar traumas to hers. And that’s why Peeta was the one for her, not Gale. Finnick, Johanna and Peeta understood Katniss’ ptsd while Gale could only cheer her up, not really knowing what to say.

That's what i loved too. The books really showed the bonding of the tributes which made so much sense. They survived hell, of course they would be closer to each other than everyone else. I do appreciate how they showed Finnick and Katniss become close, but they really dropped the ball with Johanna and even Annie. Lol remember the part where Katniss got pissed off at Gale because he was staring at her and Finnick while they were talking and she was like, "oh, lemme guess- you're jealous of him now too?!"

When Johanna picks up the locket with pictures of Katniss' loved ones, and then she gently puts it down, that's such a nice detail. She may be super abrasive, but she knows what it's like to lose her family, and deep down she doesn't want Katniss to go through the same things that she has.

1:58 I like how she started to soften down because these objects are sentimental memories of an individual. Maybe because it saddens her due to the fact that she no longer has a family.

It softens her because it humanized Katniss for her.

In the book, Katniss made her a gift of a bundle of pine needles after she fails the test to be a soldier. This was her only personal possession and reminded her of home.

Natalie Dober one reason for sure but I like to think of a second reason. Katniss has struck a deal with president Coin that she and Gale could hunt outside of district thirteen in exchange for being the mockingjay. Johanna could never leave district 13 to have the opportunity. The Second reason based on my own opinion is that due to her personality she wouldn’t want to make something like that and it doesn’t hold the same significance if she just picked up a bunch of Pineneedles.

It also saddened her cuz in the books she didn't have anything from home. She no family or friends. No trinkets. In the books, they become more like friends. Katniss brings her back stuff from the forest to remind her of home. Like a tree branch and leaves so she can smell home.

I've always thought that Katniss really appreciated this from Johanna. Having one person in her life who is totally unmoved by all the drama that everyone else is swept up in, who only sees her as the unremarkable girl who stumbles from mess to mess when everyone else sees a Chosen One... It's exactly the sort of thing Katniss craved.

Yes. A real friend. Someone you might not have gotten along with at first but eventually both grew on each other and cared even slightly about their wellbeing. Their bond was stronger in the books. They should have adapted that in a little.

@@JustJJo7xI wish it had showed how they encouraged each other through the military training, and how Johanna was ready to go to the Capitol with Katniss until she panicked during her test scenario.

It is so sad when johannah look all of the personal items that katniss have. She dont have anything that will remind her of her happy life with her family.

There was a scene in the book I wish was in the movie. Katniss finds a bunch of pine leaves and wraps it in a blanket, so the scent can remind her of her home in District 7.
