I followed your link to see the price. The price is right for a solo game of this size. Also, I saw that Mike Lambo has a dozen or so of these books, ranging for this fantasy adventure to Medieval Knight to WWI/II to modern to space sci-fi. So there is something for everybody. As for the tokens, since it looks like you have to cut them out anyway, I think I would take a clue from Chip Theory and mount them on poker chips.

I think Poker chips would be too big...but I like where your head is at!!

@@HungryGamerReviews: Most chips are 1½". but I found "Darovly 600Pcs Plastic Poker Mini Chips in 6 Colors" that are 0.9". 600 maybe a wee bit to much, but you get 6 colors to choose from. And the set is less than 14. Furthermore, you can stack and glue the chips for a two-tone good / bad side piece, or three to make a checkers size piece. Anyway, that what I found which a quick 10 minute search.

@@HungryGamerReviews: After another quick search of "Plastic Poker Mini Chips", I found a set of 1 inch, 300 count with 10 different colors by Smartdealspro. These chips are smooth (no teeth) so they stack but won't lock together. However, they have a bigger area for a picture. They also have a option for an edge, making them more like Chip Theory's chips. (I think.)

This looks very interesting, I think I'll bite. But one thing I'm a bit nervous about - given the nature of the binding, it looks like it doesn't lie flat. So isn't that a headache, causing your tokens (or indeed miniatures) to fall/move around? What was your experience of this?

It slides around a little. Prob wouldn't w heavy card stock or thin cardboard

I use 4 paper clamps (clipped to the cover of a hardcover placed underneath) to keep the map area perfectly flat. Love Mike Lambo's games

People take the books to office supply stores or copy stores and have them spiral bound. Additional cost, but a fix.

I've done two things with Fields of Normandy XL. 1) Plexiglas sheet over well-flattened book, and 2) my preferred method, print maps (via BGG) on my color printer.
