THE HUNT - A Quest For GIANT STRIPER - Official Short Movie

Trophy Striped Bass truly are a special species. In this full-fledged striper fishing short film, we're in search of big striped bass in the 30+ lb range. We met up with our good buddy Kyle and his girlfriend Maggie who had fished the area before and told us about the quality of fish to be caught. Greg Myerson broke the striped bass world record in 2011. He was fishing a live eel when he hooked into the world record striper, measured at 54 inches, & weighing 81.88 pounds!! In this fishing movie we dubbed "The Hunt" we spend 3 days in search of the one.

Salmon river is not a Lake Erie trib. Don't listen to us NYS guys addicts. All our tribs are combat fisherys that usually have more people than fish. Places like the Salmon charge you to fish the best water. Heck of long ways to travel for little reward. Addicts at the OZ! Lmfao I'd watch that just to see the look on The Legends face doing the "wall walk". Plus I could come up and get an autograph on my Addicted hat.

When I was a kid in 1968 me and my folks went down to Oak Ridge, Tenessee to visit my older brother while he was doing his internship for Union Carbide at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. It was early spring down there so one day me and my Pops went fishing on the Clinch River below one of the power station (a dam). We caught sauger (a relative of walleyes in the perch family). That reservoir you guys were fishing in probably had both walleye and sauger in it (not to mention muskies). A year later me and my dad fished a major tributary of Fontana Lake (NC) for the spring run of walleyes and I managed to catch a limit of walleyes one day on what the locals called "spring lizards".

So grateful to live here, middle Tennessee bass fishing is outstanding in my opinion, East Tennessee bass and striper fishing is world class and the trout guys claim to love it here too. It’s all beautiful too, sometimes I need to step back and look around and remember to appreciate it. (That’s hard to do though when you’re getting dogged by Tennessee smallmouth)

39:30... look at the lines in the fish in the center of the body just behind the point of it’s gill. See that darker spot? It connects to the other stripes that run to the back of the fish showing the sensitive lateral line. So cool!

Thank you so much. Absolutely outstanding content! I so enjoy your enthusiasm. Sharing your full experience. Those are fat Stripers. Our California Delta stripers do get to 30+ inches. Just not that well fed. In the 1950/60s was common to see 30/40 lbs stripers, they do exist, just not in big numbers. Fighting a striper in the surf does add to the fight. They use the surf to their advantage. I use a Shimano Baitrunner when bait fishing to let them eat before setting the hook.

Moved to the west coast 3 yrs ago to live on the Columbia river. 2 things I miss about the Midwest pizza not that thick stuff that's made for tourists. The other is Striper fishing in the cooling lakes. My biggest was 19.5#.......But it was on 6# test on an ultralight. It's the only fish I ever mounted.

Indian River Inlet in Delaware! Stripers on live eels at night, was the closest thing to steelhead fishing there other than going to the salmon river in New York or great lakes. AWESOME EATING FISH!👍🎣🤙
