THE HUNT FOR MONSTER CRABS HAS FINALLY PAID OFF! How to catch crabs Port Phillip Bay (Episode 29)

WELCOME BACK TO ANOTHER EPISODE!
In this episode it all started with going out another day trying to finally catch some monster crabs in Port Phillip Bay, went to a few different spots to test it out.
I decided while being out to attach my Go Pro to the bottom of my crab net to see the action. You won't actually believe the life that was seen on the bottom of the bay and bottom of the ocean.
It all ended finally in success with this crab hunt!

Here’s a few tips leave your pots out for about 45 mins to an hour each time and the best bait for crabs is whole mullet what you wanna do with the mullet is make a few slits in the mullet with a knife it works a dream keep it up legend

If you wanna catch big blue swimmer crabs this is what I’ve done go out to about 3-4m of water look for spots with both weedy and sandy patches drop your nets in best bait is probably squid head and mullet I would recommend getting a bait clip to make sure your bait doesn’t fall of it’s also a lot easier to put the bait on finally make sure you stay stationary because when your moving the engine scares away the crabs I would recommend putting them in for 10min at first and if the baits gone/still there put the net in for shorter/longer and that’s how we bagged out on 60 blue swimmer in an hour

Did you know that those small crabs are crushed whole into a paste with their shells and all, then water added to them to extract every bit of essence and crab mustard in the body. The thick soupy extraction is slowly boiled and then all the meat proteins clump up together to make a ball of floating crab meat, while water or stock becomes an orangy clear pure crabby broth. The usual Vietnamese herbs spices etc are used to create a balanced crap soup. Only ripe tomatoes are put the broth. Delicious .

The shipwreck is called Ozone Shipwreck located off St Leaonards. Also a good Snapper spot. Damn Banjos and rays are a pest!!!
