I'd go for the V12 Lusso route. You'll find 1 well within budget and I think that most of the Depreciation has now happened. Although a slightly older car, you'll easily fit the Family in it whenever and go wherever anytime. It's also an ideal replacement daily if you swap it for the Panamera too.

I have a 2017 Lusso, and love it. I put 28k miles on it in the first year of my ownership. It has 48k miles on it now, and has been bulletproof. I got the Capristo Exhaust and valve opener, with X Pipes, and it sounds glorious. I haul around my wife and 3 large dogs. You MUST put down the rear seats if you really want to hear it roar. It’s night and day in terms of even better sound.

90% of my drives in our California were 3 up. The back is tight but perfect for shorter journeys with my 3 year old in the back. I would probably go for the Roma; you are getting a newer car, the backseats still, and it is stunning! I’d also love an 812 but there is something very special about being able to share the Ferrari experience as a family.

GTC4 Lusso will be the most practical but has the infamous problems with the front gearbox (unless you go for the V8 Lusso T with RWD). I would suggest the Portofino or even a California T. It has the convertible roof which instantly makes it more fun and a much bigger contrast to your 360 CS. It will give you a completely different character of Ferrari, a genuine two-car Ferrari garage to start off with.

You know what you need? A V12. Big, front-engined V12 grand tourer, 4-seater notwithstanding. If you're fine with no rear seat? 599 GTB. Amazing look (especially in black, grey, blue or dark red), Enzo-derived V12, and can be had for less than GBP120k these days. If you need 4 seats I think FF would be a better bet but the PTU problems can sting. Also if you want another V8 don't overlook the original California. Lovely car, that is.

The standard Portofino is the only car I’d be interested in getting out of my Alpine A110 for. Ideally in Tour de France blue, crema interior, Daytona seats and yellow calipers. And I prefer the wheels over the ones on the M. Sam… consider the Portofino M as a great all-rounder. Convertible, 2+2, with more sensible running costs, less complexity than an 812’s V12 and it’s smaller, making it much more useable. Absolutely love Portofinos! 🇮🇹 Good luck with your search.

The Roma easily checks all of your boxes, but the V12 Lusso is the best choice in my opinion. Very unique car, blend of modern comforts and a front engine V12 platform… The backseat really cuts down your options; I would make sure the car seat actually fits-many cars that I’ve tried don’t support a car seat at the proper angle for our 1-year old. Once they’re tall enough to forego the car seat, they probably don’t have enough room in the backseat.. I’d love to see you get one of the more traditional front engine V12 GT cars. Congrats either way sir!

PS - I think you'd enjoy any 911 Cabriolet so much more. Vastly more reliable and usable. But obviously not exotic like a Ferrari

Wow, if ever there was a first-world problem... I've watched your videos for years now and you fully deserve the moves you've made upwards and it shows in the quality and infectious nature of your communication. The bottom line - you know that if that's your passion and you can get it past HQ, fair play to you mate, get the one that floats ya boat..!! About 30 years ago, when I was still living in the UK (now in China), I had the best job ever: driving Ferraris from the service centre in Thorpe to the showroom in Egham so that the owners could pick them up or sometimes to drop them off to clients. I did it in my break before having to get what my parents considered a "real job" and have driven some of what are now the most expensive classics in the world including my personal favourite 250 GT SWB (which, when the kids' school fees are done and off the payroll, I will finally get my hands on). I've not driven all of the latest models but don't get the Roma (it's a very good car, but after a 360CS (epic car) you'll be over it in less than 6 months and your wife will nick it). Don't forget the Lusso... I did a trip with 3 good mates in a Lusso to go skiing in Switzerland (where my son is at Uni). I was not a particular fan before but was shocked by how comfortable it was in the back (I'm not a small bloke). It eats miles on the motorway and can really pick it up in the bends... not bad on snow too but that was an unintentional wrong turn... If you have a Lusso you can get rid of the Panamera and from the reaction of the lads at my son's Uni when we went to pick him up and he got in to drive it, it's pretty bloody cool...

I have a Challenge Stradale like yourself and a Roma for the more daily Ferrari where I can take my 2 sons at the back. I get used to the haptic steering after 5 days. They don’t get accidentally pressed as you drive as you need to wake them up before they are active. The sound of the Roma is actually quite nice. Its very comfortable in comfort mode. I can drive 5 hours in it without experiencing any back pain (I am 43 years old). In sports and race mode, it is sporty enough for the twisties. I have a 992 GT3 Cup for track days. I would always take the Roma to drive to the track which is 5 hours away from home.

I was lucky enough to be allowed to drive the (now sadly sold) 812 Superfast of my granddad. It was 3 years ago, he bought it, I was 22 years old and he actually let me drive it. I’ve driven a lot of cars, including an F-Type SVR, a DB11, a V8 Vantage F1 Edition, multiple BMW Ms, Alpine A110s, and some others. I myself own a Mini cooper S. The 812 was BY FAR the most exhilarating and exiting driving experience EVER! No car had made me forget the „missing“ (by that, I mean, BAD) infotainment and sound system as much as this 812 did. To add the cherry on top it was in a historic color with grey and espresso leather inside. Since I drove that car, sadly I couldn’t help but compare every other car to it, I drove afterwards, and everytime I was thinking, it’s good, but will never be as good as the 812… The fact, you could daily it and also don’t have to go speeds that will move you through time, makes this car an absolute dream to enjoy! You have to get what you want, no question, but if you have the chance to get an 812, I would not ask myself for a second which one I would be getting…

I don’t think the 812 will lose much value; in fact, I believe its value may even increase. The successor, the 12-Cilindri, is just as fast, but it doesn’t sound as good and, in my opinion, isn’t nearly as beautiful. It wouldn’t surprise me if the 812 gains a similar status to the 458, with prices staying high.

As someone who’s thinking of getting a Cali T or Porty. You should def get the Porty M. Currently in a 911 Turbo and want something I can fit my 2 kids in. As they love it. And I love taking them for drives. So any 2 seater is out. The Lusso is great, but I kinda feel like it’s a weird car. I’d daily it, but then it doesn’t feel as special. If I didn’t have little kids I’d want an 812.

I bought a Portofino new which I still have .It is one of the most underrated Ferrari,s but I have found it one of the best. I had a GTC4 Lusso T which was great and many other Ferrari,s . I also have an F12 which is pure joy to drive, but always go back to the Portofino for everyday use. I heard the Portofino M doesn't sound quite as good as the original Portofino's but I may be wrong.

Roma spider sounds like it would make a lot of sense as an opposite to the CS, front engined, modern and a convertible, however a Lusso would be better as a 4 seat family car. surely youve got to consider f12/812 aswell

A Ferrari can be a good investment and it was for a friend of mine. He managed after several years to buy a new Ferrari Speciale the last year it was made. So thanks to how the value has increased on the Ferrari Speciale, he made a good cut on the Speciale. He traded it in for a low mileage Ferrari Portofino plus cash, which was good for him as a newly retired man. In addition to the Portofino, he received £201,680 in cash. The friend said with this money I can enjoy the car more as a pensioner and still have free service at Portofino. As well as you like the Ferrari 812 and that big difference between it and a GTC4Lousso is not that big, a little less horsepower BUT a proper 4 seater car is your daughter can grow in and ride in. She can't in the 812, remember that children grow Quickly. GTC4Lousso sounds like 812, it has 4 wheel drive. As well as a GTC4Lousso you get cheaper than you can buy an 812. Because the 812 has even gone up a bit in value after the 12 cylinder was launched, they think it's so ugly and the noise from the mod has been reduced to 74 decibels and doesn't sound anywhere near like the 812. This has when I've looked around at all European Ferrari dealers, that the 812 is stable and at some the price has increased. An 812 just under 288114 pounds for a 2018 model with about 6213 miles on the odometer.

Just watched this video Sam, brilliant as always. I have to agree though these cars are very spec/ colour dependent. Personally, it can only be Blue,Black or Grey. The usual Rosso colours just don't work and Giallo Modena is a complete no go on the Portofino and Roma.

The heart says Superfast. The head says V12 Lusso. With a CS in the garage I'd looking only for V12. My favourite modern berlinetta is the 599. The GTO would be the first thing I'd buy with super-lottery money!

As a mechanic one of my customers has an early FF that was quite a bargain. He was getting ready to have two kids but said to his wife I want a Ferrari and she said not gonna happen we need something practical so now his kids get to ride around in the back of an FF sitting right over a Capristo exhaust

Such a tough one 🤔 Not a huge Portonfino fan, however open top motoring is a joy to behold, Scuderia Prestige have a belter in stock, paint and interior 🩵 Always loved a Lusso, is it getting on a bit tho? 812 would be amazing, but there are so many of them around, maybe massive stretch to 812 GTS is the answer you’re looking for Sam 😳

If i was in that market id go V12 Lusso, family usability would justify it for me. And still a bona fide V12 Ferrari. Would also respect Portofino M and that would give very different Ferrari content, which is never bad! Good luck!

I know your heart seems to be set on the Portifino M, but the Lusso seems to tick all your boxes AND has a V12, it’ll probably be the most comfortable for your whole family and it has the appeal of the older Ferraris

I feel like the current value of the cars shown, match up with the excitement they bring (to me at least). 812 is most exciting, but a but too much maybe? Lusso is super cool, 4 proper seats, V12 lusso must be insane Roma is cool but I wouldn't dare to drive it, it feels so clean, so classy Portofino is least exciting but it's a bloody ferrari. Seems really refined, imo best value/money for a dailyable Ferrari. Whatever car you decide to buy, I'll love it, will be awesome, looking forward to seeing the adventures with it!

Can't believe you are comparing (within purchase prices ish) the Roma, Portofino v 812, Lusso. You are MAD to buy anything other than v12 at that budget. Start with a list with only the Lusso & 812 💪🏻
