I'm not having the problem but my friend is. Her little boy keeps his toys in a plastic bin & she said the cat has started to pee in the bin on his toys. She was wondering why & what she could do. I thought maybe the cat was trying to tell her something.

When a cat eliminates outside their litter box, they often do so in an area that seems most secure. That's sometimes a bed or a spot on the couch where their favorite person sits. They choose these spots because the scents there make them feel better. That's also the purpose of the improper elimination - to shore up their confidence by making sure everyone can smell their scent so they know who the territory belongs to. The best response is no response. Instead, work on eliminating stress and boosting their cat's confidence. It's hard to say more without a lot more knowledge of their situation.
