One of the world's oldest trees is in Tasmania. Despite the odds, this gentle giant still stands today. The Huon Pine is a significant symbol of Tasmania's ancient land. I believe the reason they didn’t show the actual tree is because it’s highly protected in an area that they don’t want to be distributed. Huon Pines are incredibly slow growing trees with a very fine grain that makes them ideal for fine furniture, but they do take a very long time to reach maturity for example between 900 to 1,000 years before the are fully grown and then they can live for several thousand years after that if left alone that’s why they are now highly protected as a species that grows nowhere else in the world.

Probably not best to show the tree or its location if you want it to keep standing.

While elsewhere in Tasmania, out of sight, vast tracts of virgin primordial forests with up to 180ft forest giants are clear felled, wood chipped then napalmed.

And all the biggest & tallest trees were deliberately & miraculously left out of that 60,000 hectares of WHA to be forever destroyed by lease industrial logging.. amazing.

Just to be clear - this is a clonal tree they're talking about, not a single individual tree. The title's slightly misleading.

Very much so. Methuselah is the worlds oldest tree. It is a pine though, bristlecone pine.

Hermosa naturaleza 😍 pero creo los árboles se regeneran dia a dia así que el de 10500 años será regerado dia a dia?

If it's a Clonal tree then it's different from an 'Individual' tree like the Methuselah Bristlecone Pines with a trunk mass bore sample dated to 5,000 years.

This is an ad so I take any claims about a 10,500 year old tree with a grain of salt. Especially since it's not reported as such anywhere else.

I don't think any individual 🌲 is 10,500 old, I think the stand of Huon Pines, has been cloning itself for that long through vegetative propagation, i.e branch dips into ground, grows roots and so on.

Is that functionally different? It’s one organism, it didn’t reproduce sexually. It’s still the same genetics and same body, I’d consider that to be the legitimate original organism. If a human could do it you wouldn’t disagree.
