The Tree projects: Saving Tasmanian rainforest I WIDE

The Styx Valley in Tasmania is the kingdom of the giant eucalyptus, the tallest and oldest tree in the southern hemisphere.
Until recently, the trees in the valley were still at the mercy of forestry companies. Thankfully, in 2013, part of the site was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Eucalypts can now grow peacefully (more than one meter per year!) and keep impressing us!
Meet Steve Pearce, a photographer who contributed to letting the world know about the magnificence and the fragility of these sleeping giants.

And the forestry industry even runs at a loss! It's destruction for naught That World Heritage is the highest-rated on the planet. There is still a huge portion of the Styx unpretected (in fact most of it; the reserve is an island in a sea of coupes) -- they cut every tree below 85 metres in height!
