The CXO300 features a 4.4 liter V8 engine architecture, so it can propel vessels as fast as petrol outboards can, and it has twin turbos and high-pressure common rail to provide better responsiveness from the throttle than current outboards.
Currently, Cox is the only engine manufacturer in the world to have purposely designed a high-power diesel outboard from a blank sheet of paper. To keep the weight down. The CXO300 needed a vertical crank as a horizontal crank would be further away from the propeller and require a heavier shaft or gearbox.

I would love to see a review that compares the COX diesel outboard to the OXE diesel outboard. Either way, diesel outboards are the future.
