BRAVO! Thank you for a rational and realistic look at this pistol and the following it has.
@UrbanTactic-mw7vg8 ай бұрын
Disclaimer I don’t own the gun: The TTI Pit Viper and Sand Viper are collectible firearms that offer a moderate (being conservative) degree of performance, appeal, and value. There are collectibles at higher prices providing minimal value to no value in other industries.. I think TTI has gauged the price the market is willing to pay for JW collectibles effectively. Despite critical reviews, the market has demonstrated a sustained interest for JW, with the value remaining above $7k, if available. Spending any more than 10 minutes comparing and heavily scrutinizing a collectible that still offers performance to firearms designed solely for performance (staccato/atlas/infinity) value per dollar is a narrow review. In the automotive industry, vintage cars command higher prices not for their current performance but as collectibles, and I don’t understand why anyone would buy an old moderate performing car. But who cares what I don’t understand, the market gets it. The feedback on the gun was solid, but again parts of the review seemed narrow, almost assuming TTI released this firearm with similar intentions as companies like Atlas or Infinity. It was in a movie, oh and look, you can actually use it at the range and it will perform reasonably well (again conservative, likely performs a bit better than reasonably well). The market response confirms its collectible status. People love JW movies. First 5 min in your into was SPOT ON. It’s a collectible. I don’t own and probably won’t but I love firearms and if I was into JW best believe I’m buying this firearm that can reasonably perform if I take it to the range, has sex appeal, and was in a movie. I heard someone say the value will go down. Has the value ever gone down on JW pistols (serious question)?? This is borderline and investment.
@abowens777 Жыл бұрын
The mag not dropping free is most likely due to a cheap grip module. When injection molding grip modules like that, there is a shrink rate that happens when the polymer cools that has to be accounted for when creating and sizing the molds. If they don’t get the shrink rate right when creating the molds, you get slightly undersized grip modules.
@Death.Co. Жыл бұрын
I worked in the quality lab of a plastic injection molding plant and I can tell you that for something like that plastic grip module to be of consistent quality there would have to be a "magazine shaped " fixture to slide into the grip while it is cooling, even if it had coolant running through the mold before it was ejected from the machine.

I have worked on one of Tarans sand vipers. Pretty sure optimum manufacturing is making his slides. There is little to no hand fitting and you can really tell from the extractor fit along with the beaver tail engagement, slide to frame, and the sear springs are stock very little polishing or relieving and same with sear. The issue you had is hammer following into the halfcock. This is likely from how the after travel on the trigger itself was setup which can very from Mags believe it or not. It should be adjusted with a mag in the gun.

Excellent review and commentary. Wonder how TTI will respond, if at all. I have never been into the Glam gun craze with colored parts, wild slide cuts, and all the other BS that draws your eye. I guess for the movies it makes sense but IMHO if the customization is not purely functional in a positive sense, then there is no practical operational value. I fully agree on your final assessment, save yer bucks and buy a Nighthawk Custom. I bought a NH T3 many years ago and it is hands down the finest 1911 I have ever fired. The trigger is sublime in operation and the fit and finish of the weapon is impeccable. Keep up the great work fellas.

Let start by saying if a man doesn't like 1911's, we can't be friends. I was pissed off awhile back when you made fun of people/guns that were of the 'budget" variety and they were solid weapons at their price point. For example, Tisas, believe it or not, makes all sorts of 1911's that are unbelievably good pistols. Having said that, I owe you a very large apology after seeing this video. Being "fair" is tough on KZbin. Most that revue guns are on the "take" at some level. You know that as most of us do. I am sorry I lumped you in with those folks. That was a "FTF" on my part. An emotional response but not a legitimate one. There are many firearms worth many hundreds of thousands of Dollars. Some Millions. Fine Purdy and Holland and Holland Double Rifles for instance made for Royalty and are the envy or any collector of fine guns and art. If you own one of many of these fine firearms', you can command an extravagant amount and have huge profit. As will the buyer in just a few years. Same with very high end Custom Knives. For the most collectable of them, the return is much higher than just about any investment you could possibly make and be guaranteed a very Health proffit. Are these worth it in you mind. Nope. Are they worth it financially, H*ll Yes! (Is a vintage rolex worth than a brand spanking new Timex). If and only if you understand the market value and money. What sucks in this instance is the inflated price due to the item being a movie fan must have. is it well made, Nope. Desirable to the movie buff, yep in many cases. There are movie props sold every day at high end auctions that bring huge amounts of money. All due to provenance. It is what it is. In this case, it is only a copy of a prop, but apparently authorised. Not something I would spend , money on, but whether it is of superb quality matters not in the least to this type of collector. Only the Movie and hype it generates sets the market. KnifeMaker.

The main difference is that we can now use our pace again. For the last 2 yearss we've been pressing so high up the pitch that it kept the opposition pinned back and there was no space to make any runs behind the defence. This way we force the opposition to come for out for the ball, which leaves so much space to make runs in behind.

Great and honest review! I had read on one of the forums that Taran had bought an old patent/design from STI to make the Pit/Sand Vipers (my guess the DVC-P) This was supposedly from a friend of someone currently employed at TTI. Since STI is no more and became Staccato, I would not be surprised if Staccato is supplying the comped barrel, slide and frame to Taran and he has his gunsmith machine all the fancy slide work and drop in a bunch of internals from the top tier brands. That’s my take at least

I'd laugh my ass off if it was Tisas or Girsan or some other clone company.

I really appreciate your honest reviews! It’s a great gun for half the cost but, at 7K no thanks. It seams like TTI is ridding the coattails of the John Wick movies to push over priced guns.

I like this guy finally someone who’s not afraid to let there nuts hang in the KZbin gun review or thoughts/ facts.Would not take 2,500 to make no damn handgun if ur just talking materials. And yeah mr Tarzan charges way to much for his John wick fleshlight.

Before I finish watching this video I'm going to put my best guess in. I was surprisingly looking for information on who makes the TTI guns less than the week ago, and found nothing. I've held a few TTI pistols in my local gun store, including the sand viper, and I can't dismiss the fact that they are eerily reminiscent of staccato 2011s.

Looks to me, Staccato builds them too..... However he states Staccato is far better

Yep, I just picked up a Staccato C-2 as the Les Baer was getting a little heavy. LOL! Only complaint on the C-2 is the drop in fire control group. No excuse for the hammer hooks and sear nose not to be properly dressed. The hammer hooks still had all the DLC finish on them. I feel a little scammed. OK, more than a little scammed. I called customer service and was told they were hand fit. Seems he didn't know the difference between dropped in by hand, (Not a robot) and actual hand fitting. Pitiful! KnifeMaker

Love the content, and I can't believe you don't have more subs! Very high quality content... Unlike the Pitt Viper. BTW, I laughed hard @14:47 🤣👍

Aren’t they just a custom staccato xc? Because those literally cost less than 1500 bucks to make.

I subcontracted for an engineer and we were given 3 Staccatos. All of our stations had to be kept dust free, solid granite slabs, top of the line micrometers & calipers and custom scales. They were all wildly asymmetrical. Awful machining, and terrible balance. If you really want a nice 1911, save money and buy a Dan Wesson. They're as close to perfect as you can get for less than $2500. All the new boutique 1911s & 2011s are a scam. Stick with Wilson or Wesson.

Agree on $3,500, at $7k it’s insane. Having said that, just buy a Staccato P in steel for $2.5k and call it a day.

Regarding the grip safety and the checkered mag release, the version you have in the video is the second version of the grip module. I know because i sent TTI an email because the second gen grip doesn’t have the extended checkered mag release (which is the one i have🙄) and they told me they changed them halfway in the run because they ran out of the gen 1 grips. The checkering on the grip is also different. The first gen grip is flush with the grip safety. That was disappointing to say the least. I asked if i could change to the first gen grips and they didn’t have any because they ran out. You can spot the first gen grip because it has 2 screws on the grip vs one screw on the 2nd gen. 😡 TTI’s response: Hello, It looks like you've got the latest batch of our Pit Vipers. Due to supply and demand, we have had to switch to the Gen 2 Grips which are not compatible with the extended magazine release and black trigger.

Great review guys, not selling your souls like a lot of “ gun tubers “ that always say everything they review is the best thing happen sense sliced bread ,,, Taran products is overhyped and over priced in general compare to top tier manufacturers that charge less but have 100% better quality and products Stay strong

Give that probably nothing on this gun is hand fit, my guess about the problem you had iPhone footage of is that to get the trigger so light, they brought it on the verge of hammer follow, and that’s what you got. Thanks a lot for the great video and production quality. Bad reviews are never fun, but sometimes they’re needed, and remind us viewers that some channels are worth trusting more than others
