Tess talking about her "restrictive ED" stresses me the fuck out. Like I guess she is embracing the "atypical anorexia" label. But apparently she was never diagnosed by someone qualified to do so. So I'm highly skeptical. And like, I was anorexic for the better part of 20 years, and now I'm fat - because I committed to recovery, and my metabolism is fucked up from not eating enough since I was 12. To maintain her weight she has to be eating 3500-4000 calories (on average) a day. She should stop all the filters and show what she really looks like. Alan Roberts showed her in a mattress commercial she made and it was pretty bad. If her diet is so restricted, show us and then say what your therapists are advising you to do if you want to help others. For me, I don't believe it. I have only seen her prepare a breakfast of bagels with cream cheese and 4 slices of bacon. Some days that's all the calories I eat a day (but not WHAT I eat which is vegetables, an egg, some ham or chicken and a little fruit.)

I suspect I had orthorexia or atypical in high school. Never got diagnosed as no one really saw it besides my friends who knew I wasn’t eating. Since I started off bigger, people just assumed it was a good weight loss. I ended up losing 50 pounds by starving myself and exercising like crazy. Sure Id binge every once in a while and give into cravings. But if you’re a so called anorexic…you don’t give into those cravings enough to go over a deficit like that. Especially at her weight. If she was atypical anorexic she would’ve lost a substantial amount of weight by now…
@MusikGirl23
@MusikGirl23 Жыл бұрын
Yeah…although with many of us who have/had anorexia, the extreme restriction does eventually lead to subjective binges and then unhealthy methods of purging. It’s also not uncommon to go back and forth with disorders…but no. She doesn’t have anorexia, atypical or not. Substantial weight loss not weight gain, and she would NOT have filmed herself nearly naked eating a ton of cake. I couldn’t even manage to eat small amounts with my closest family, let alone posting something like that for millions to see. I always say, she could have brought a lot of attention to BED or OSFED if that was more the diagnosis, but she went for the more ‘socially acceptable’ disorder of anorexia because some still glamorous it (which let me just say, there is nothing glamorous of having a feeding tube because you just can’t bring yourself to relax enough to actually let the food work to gain weight, or IVS of potassium because yours dropped to really critical levels, or feeling like your legs are going to give out at any moment). Rant over.

I feel like Gwyneth is misunderstood. I'm not a fan of Goop but she answered what her 'wellness routine' is, not a 'what do you eat in a day?'. She looks amazing for her age and she is truly a foodie if you look at what kind of programs she has made in her life - I'm not saying you can't have an ED as a foodie, but I just thinking it's straight up rude to assume that all she has for lunch is bonebroth. It's funny how quick Tess is to jump the gun on Gwyneth's diet, but if anyone assumes she must be eating a shitton of food to be so large, we're all fatphobic *ssholes..???

The one interesting thing Gwyneth did was to set up and spend, for a month, a food stamp budget. She ate only what was within that really low budget, and discussed her experience. Of course, she made some weird choices within that budget, but she was honest in saying it was hard to stay within the money, she was hungry, and she was bored eating only what was cheap with little variety.

Thank you for pointing out that gluten free processed foods are often higher calorie! I was diagnosed with celiac, and was shocked that most gf foods like bread are both smaller portions and more calories than the wheat versions. Tess just thinks anything with the word "diet" means weight loss, but some of us just need to avoid foods because of allergies. Tess and other fat activists act like the world revolves around them and everyone else's choices are judging them, they never stop to ponder why some of us need to be this way. It's like when Demi Lovato attacked a small business for having gluten free and diabetes friendly products in addition to their normal high sugar/wheat baked goods. It isn't "diet culture" that some of us have diseases.. It's totally possible to eat a gluten free diet that's mainly high calorie junk food, just like it's possible to be a vegetarian that binges on processed crap. None of these restrictive diets are inherently healthy.

One suggestion I have is that I have a Japanese cookbook that has been out for many years and is still available and inexpensive. called "Japanese Country Cooking." I fill up my instant pot with bones, whatever kind I have at the time. Usually a mix of bones, but if I need some and don't have bones stashed in the freezer, I to buy chicken feet. (You can find them at local Asian markets or co ops. They're very cheap and full of collagen, glutamine and glycine.) After it's got a good amount of bones/feet inside, I fill it with filtered water and a few tablespoons of raw apple cider vinegar. That's the key. And that's it. No veg scraps or herbs. I set it to max which I believe is 240 minutes and let her go. Then I strain it all once it's cool enough to handle the inner pot. Salt it to taste and store it in glass jars in the fridge. You've gotta use the ACV. It acts as a menstruum to leach all the minerals out've the bones and the collagen out've the cartilage. You cal also use a slow cooker and do it for 12-24 hours or on the stove top. 💖 Hope that helps ya!

I honestly don't think Ozempic should be used for weight loss if you're in a "healthy" BMI range. It's not meant for that, it's meant for diabetes. Besides the fact that it's causing shortages - it's not needed when you could make sustainable lifestyle changes instead.

If you want to eat cauliflower (and it's my favorite vegetable) Just eat it fresh! Processing it into a crust is ridiculous. Try a sautee with olive oil, garlic and fresh rosemary. Add a small portion of pasta. Have your pizza with fresh vegetables and tomato sauce and little or no cheese. Watch the amount of oil. It's the oil, cheese, sausage, pepperoni and portion size that make it less healthy.

Myself my twin sister have naturally done the intermittently fasting long before it was a thing, we just weren’t hungry until around noonish. Our mom is the same way. They both still do it but it’s not because it’s the cool thing to do. But I get hated on for being too skinny all the time

i think maybe what they're referring to w/ the glp1 medication is that the increased demand for it as a weight loss medication has caused a shortage of the medication (at least in my country) so a lot of people who use it manage severe diabetes can't get it (they still get insulin and stuff but it does put them more at risk for severe health effects). but idk

I'm not a fan of Gwyneth Paltrow by a LONG shot, but because of all these people going SHE ONLY EATS BONE BROTH! she came out (on Twitter I think) and rectified that statement, saying she just likes bonebroth but that that's not ALL she eats at lunch all the time, but that she eats quite a fulfilling and healthy dinner most of the days. I'm not sure if this is true, but that woman would look WAY thinner than she is if she would 'only' eat bone broth. Also Tess Holliday is one to talk 🤣🤣

I don't feel the interview with GP really said much at all, except for she has fancy things and likes vegetables. Keep in mind that a person can consume a range of vegetables/proteins and have a highly nutritional day, with low calories. There have also been videos going around where women are sharing a 1300-1500 cal a day diet in order to lose weight. The average woman only needs around 1500 a day (more if you're active). And people are freaking out calling this a disorder. We truly have lost perspective when eating healthy is considered a disorder, but over-consumption is empowering.

Bone broth is a component of soup, it is not soup. The fact that labelling that as soup rolled off her tongue so easily is very strange. Coffee and broth both have calorie counts in the singular digits, and dinner is 'lots of vegetables'. I have to wonder if she even breaks 1000 calories a day.

Kiana did a vid and presented a case for why she thinks that's not all she eats. It includes evidence that Paltrow does indeed love food. Tbh I wouldn't be surprised if she does do coffee and bone broth to suppress appetite. I suspect her dinner is something like a chicken Broccoli rice style clean eating thing. Honestly as you age you do need fewer calories. I'm not gonna look up her stuff but I'd guess since she's tall thin and older, she probably needs about 1500 cal. I just had essentially chicken teriyaki and edamame for lunch and probably had 500 cal in just that so I'm sure she's eating fine.

The way Tess said "ending her day by just eating vegetables?" That to me says all I need to know about her eating habits, as someone that only eats fruits and vegetables. 😂 I don't believe people need to or can only be healthy eating vegan or that all vegan foods are intrinsically healthy. But fruits and vegetables are intrinsically healthy and should be eaten every day. Also Paleolithic humans didn't consume dairy outside of infancy. JS. We probably started taking the milk of other animals to feed infants when mothers couldn't produce, and went from there.That's makes sense to me anyway.

using these weight loss medications that were designed for diabetics means that you really need to be monitored just the same as if you are diabetic.
