These criticisms of charging just don’t land for me. I get that people in different areas have different experiences with charging stations but to my understanding most people charge at home. Wake up in the morning (or whenever) to a full charge. I also understand that not everyone can charge at home but then a $60000 plus performance car of any sort probably is not their priority. I don’t mean they could not afford one but maybe a this type of car is not suited for where they live, like New York. A car reviewer has got to putting way more miles on a car in a day than an average person, so of course the car needs to be charged more often. Same has to go for a gas powered performance vehicle (that can’t be refueled at home). Would they complain about the fuel bill on Mustang Dark Horse or Corvette Stingray? I have been living with a Mach E GT Performance for a couple years and charge with a Level 1 charger at home (daily driver). Not the fastest charging and not a ton of range. Rarely do I need to charge at a station even with heavy use in the cold. Even then, I plan accordingly. I wouldn’t take it cross-country. Didn’t take my V-8 Mustang cross-country when I had it. Honestly, you mean you can’t have 150-200 miles worth of fun before you call it a day and go home to charge and rest? I just think these criticisms represent problems that the vast majority of potential buyers will never face.

@@crazed1x Valid point. I was thinking more in line with people who live in homes or townhouses. Parking on the street with no close-by power outlets, is not ideal. I will say, lots of offices, parking lots, and places of work are adding chargers for employees. So that may be an option for some.

Fun, well done video. Thank you! Middle ground? In price only. Great daily and weekend driver. As you say at the end …Evs are tough for folks in rural areas I am sure. I'm waiting for the 6N to collect my savings! :D Btw, regarding the audio, you might be the 1st one to point out how good is that this intentionally fake. I kinda dig it. About charging. Honestly I live in Europe, and the infra depends on the country and area but luckily in our city we have a lot fast chargers even close to me. Not Tesla ones sadly, as the Ionity is almost as bad as charge america stations, but from this year you can finally only can build chargers with card reader finally! :)
@DavidV3283 ай бұрын
I really like my 5N, and i installed a lvl2 charger on my driveway just for this car. And if need be, there ale a ton of fast chargers nearby, or at gas stations along the highways all over Europe. So i don't have the issue you are going on about. You cannot blame poor infrastructure in your area on a car. Also, any performance BMW, ICE or hybrid, makes fake noises, but that seems highly accepted.

You're complaining about something that has nothing to do with the actual car, this isn't a flaw with Hyundai, this is a flaw with a charging infrastructure, if you're reviewing cars and EV vehicles, you should install a fast charger at home, solve your own issue

I live in a Large Metropolis Area as well, No issues with finding charging. Range, not an issue, very usable as a daily driver. I comfortably get 253-263, per full level 2 charge. And sometimes more. Especially if you're not Hot Rodding the N5 , every time you drive it... Tempting, but not Doable. Unless you want a few points added to your driving record. And I charge every 2 days. And before I go any further,, I will just say, Everything, is not for Everyone! It fits my standards, Very Well! Thanks for the lively review though.

The charger network in the US is abysmal. It’s a shame that none of the state legislators have come forward with comprehensive plan to increase the number of high speed charging stations. Really baffling

This was one of the best reviews and descriptions of the N in that you really packed in most everything important to say about it in such a short amount of time. The video and edits are great too - perfect clip showing off the drift, and the video game inserts emphasized that yes, it is a toy. The one thing I’d add is that it still works as a nice family car / grocery getter. It has a lot of room, definitely more SUV than hot-hatch. And yes; you have to charge EVs but this charges from 20 to 80% in under 20 mins which really reduces that downtime.

You live in one of the largest metropolis' on earth but there is no fast charger within 60 MILES of where you live? Then you don't live in one of the largest metropolis' on earth. I assume these are the hills near L.A. as Los Angeles is only the 27th largest on earth, before that it's N.Y. and there's just no way you live in the N.Y. area AND are 60 miles from a fast charger because again, then you wouldn't live in the NY metropolitan area. The next drops down to Chicago at #43. Same thing there. The next is Houston at 60. I'm not sure how you can live in any of these areas and say you're 60 miles from a fast charger and actually living in these metro areas. I was just in Chicago and LA this summer and at no point are you in any of these metro areas and 60 miles from a fast charger. Maybe if you live near Big Bear, there's only Tesla chargers near there but then Big Bear is not in the LA metro area (that ends at San Bernardino) I'm in NorCal and if I drive my Model Y performance from Sacramento to Kettleman city (which it really barely makes) with a SUPPOSED 300 mile "Tesla range" starting at 100% charge, driving down I-5, I get there at about 6-10 percent and that door to door is 200 miles from my house. In that drive, I pass a TON of non-tesla fast chargers Also, if someone is actually interested in the i5N, but they don't have a L2 home charger and no access to a fast charger, then why would you get it right now? Wait until Hyundai has access to superchargers and/or purchase a hybrid/ICE vehicle. It doesn't detract from the horrible state of charging in the US as a whole and I completely agree that it clearly needs a lot of work, but there are many many other vehicles that could suit someone's needs instead of the i5N. But if you really HAD to have it, then there's always a wall outlet and an extension cord.

The fact that this thing is hard to use as an actual car due to the limited range is an absolute deal breaker. People are saying no one complains about fuel economy on a Mustang V8. I have a 2018 Camaro SS and can easily drive from San Diego to Las Vegas on a single tank of gas.

You're getting way less quality of a car with any Tesla. Teslas were great when they were dominating the market in the early days, but their quality hasn't kept pace with the introduction of all these new EV's in the market. Sure it might be cheaper, but the Model 3/Y Performance can't even do a full lap of the Nurburgring without being heat soaked. The 5N crushes it there. I'd rather have a nice, quality interior than the very spartan, cheap interior of Tesla.
