I love how you respect the esoteric knowledge. Most people nowadays are either materialistic and completely disregard the divine, or are part of the anti-scientific new-age movements. I wouldn't even expect somebody with primarily interest in history to be so respectful of this kind of stuff. It was a pleasure to listen to this podcast.

It'll be TEN years this June that I've been doing this. Reading comments like yours and getting all the emails I have over the years, it makes it all worth it. I love doing this. And having listeners such as yourself (and you're one of the more enthusiastic ones I'll say) who appreciate the CHP make it all worth it. If I survive the coming coronavirus crisis, I'll keep doing this till I die. Hope that's not anytime soon.

@@ChinaHistoryPodcast to be honest I discovered your podcast about 3 years ago and was very excited about it, but couldn't find time to listen to it. I don't usually listen to podcasts at all, the format is not very convenient for me. But this year the stars have aligned, so to speak. I got a remote job, which is pretty monotonous, so I can listen to something in the background while working. I've started with your earliest episodes and been going through all of them, reaching the "Great Jesuit Scholars" episode. Your storytelling skills are incredible, making every episode exciting to listen to, almost like reading a great book. I'm thinking of learning Chinese this year, if I can make time for it with all the work and stuff. Your podcast is making it easier to get into the mood, and is helping me to not go insane while working haha. Thank you. P.S. Oh, and I wouldn't worry about the coronavirus. It seems the mortality rate is about 5-10%. Not to sound disrespectful to the deceased or those who are currently struggling. It is a serious situation and I feel sorry for the victims. I'm just saying it's very likely that we'll get through it. By 'we' I mean our troubled species :)

@@PyroNexus22 At 61 years old and less than optimum lungs, I'm a little more concerned than most about getting infected. Have you ever checked out my other show? I did 30 episodes of a show called The Chinese Sayings Podcast. It explains the stories and history behind all these four to ten character Chinese Sayings. Go check it out. All are short 8 to 10 minute shows. If you're interested to study Mandarin...this will give you a small taste. March 22 begins a brand new long-running series on a very interesting and long requested topic.

@@ChinaHistoryPodcast I hear you about the lungs. Still, if you stay home and wash your hands regularly, you're gonna be fine. I'm sure this whole crisis will be over soon. As for your other show, it sounds awesome. Will make sure to check it out next week. And looking forward to your new series! In the meantime will continue going through the catalogue of all the older episodes. Thanks for letting me know all this. Good luck, and stay calm and healthy!

I am in my 4oth year doing one I-Ching on the Spring Equinox as a yearly practice. Doing this helps one learn the depth of the Hexagram and become aware of one's issues around the specifics. The "Lines" are the actual "Action" you apply during the year and the Hexagram is always the wisdom to observe as a practice. If you do not master it, you will eventually get it again at some point. The next hexagram or few hexagrams you get, will be pre-work on that I Ching before you get it again. A year long practice is quite indepth of becoming conscious of "you"
