YESSS! The characters with no jobs thing annoys me too.. I know it must be boring for authors to let their characters have to go to crappy jobs everyday but jeepers.. 😖 Bert

Your book cases sound like mine Aaron! They were quite organized then I had to box them all up and then when I got them out I was so excited I just shoved them all on and now I can’t find anything! 😫 Hyper vigilant about spoilers, it really annoys me when people assume that everyone on the planet has read every classic so telling you the plot isn’t a spoiler 🙄 Not bothered about the way books look really so different editions wouldn’t bother me but I can understand why it would if you collect certain series etc. and stickers, peel off or permanent - don’t get me started 😉

Even when I read history books about things I don't know about I kinda try and avoid spoilers. I think everyone should boycott books with stickers in the design.

Took me awhile to get around to watching this since I've been on vacation, but this seems like a fun tag! Your brother ripping out the last page is completely tragic. I would have been so annoyed if I had picked that up! 😂 Thanks for the tag! I'll definitely be doing this.

I agree about spoilers. Spoilers are a huge no no and I get quite irritated at knowing too much. There are some booktubers who give more of a synopsis than I would like sometimes even if they aren't giving spoilers. Lack of editing is also a peeve of mine. I really notice that successful authors sometimes tend to have much longer books once they are successful than their early books were. Harry Potter is one example. Stephen King's first three novels weren't that long but the fourth was The Stand. And one mystery author I used to read had 250-400 page books for the first 5 or so in the series she writes. Then they moved up to 600+ for the remaining books and there are 21 in the series, and it is obvious when I read the last few that editing was sorely needed. I wonder why success seems to allow for longer and less well edited books.

Yep successful authors definitely get too much power, War & Peace and Les Mis I think would have had bits edited out if they were first novels. Sometimes it's debut authors now though, which you would think would be highly edited.

I stopped reading the introductions in classic books because they always spoil it! I can’t stand that. Why wouldn’t they just put it at the end? Lol. I totally agree about the annoyance of the normal people with low paying jobs or no jobs at all living in these extravagant places and having so much free time. I noticed that all the time in the Hallmark Christmas movies that I watch and I’m like how does a single elementary school teacher live in this giant mansion with professional decorations😂. I always enjoy your background of bookshelves and I think a little bit of chaos when it comes to books is fun to look. Looks cozy and it kindof reminds me of like the piles of books you would see in a used bookstore. :-) Fun tag and I enjoyed your answers!

I hate non removable stickers with a fiery passion. I also don't like book covers that use the movie adaptation as the cover I recently moved to the UK and I've been surprised with the number of free little libraries I have seen around. Maybe London doesn't have many? Where I live I've found one in an old bus stop, I've seen quite a few red phone booths converted into free book stalls, there's one at train stations, and the local library has a small free section, and even grocery stores have little free libraries I also was quite disappointed by Addie LaRue
@AaronReadABook
@AaronReadABook 6 ай бұрын
Yes I've seen them more outside London, actually there's a website that tracks them and there are quite a few in London but it's rare to stumble on them. I like the food ones you get in the country too, those wouldn't work here. Movie covers do generally suck I agree.

Totally with you on spoilers - blurbs often tell you stuff that happens 2/3 of the way through! I actually liked Addie La Rue 😂 and I have the Poppy war on my shelf 😂 I hate it when editions change! If I have a series I have to have them in the same editions on my shelf. I get annoyed when characters don't communicate with each other and my huge bug bear is simple misunderstandings which lead to big fallouts, then everyone makes up after a load of agg. I hate that plot device, which happens in every single romance ever! 🙄 Good questions!!

It sounds like you should do this tag. I think The Poppy War might be the worst fantasy book I've ever read to the end, I genuinely don't understand how anyone can like it but on TikTok it is super popular, there isn't a single line of fun in it. Give it a go though! haha

I'm not at all bothered by spoilers, but I do commiserate on how they routinely spoil classics in the intro, it's just a ridiculous thing to do! I'm also for hodgepodge of random editions, my shelves are such an assortment of things and in order that only makes sense to me 🤣
