Those poor people, who expected to go to an innocent football match and never came home. My grandpa and two great uncles were all there but mercifully didn't know what happened and came home uninjured - there were a few who weren't so lucky. Rest in peace, from a Celtic fan xx

I was there that day...with my uncle. Had no idea of the tragedy...till as we were leaving...heard the shouts, screams....I was only a wee lad then, but the sounds of that tragic day....still haunt me to this day.....R.I.P. everyone...........

I was too young to be there but my dad and brother were there and got out just before it happened..they were at the bottom of stairway 13 when Stein equalised but kept going for the subway and knew nothing till they got back to Whiteinch......absent friends....never forgotten

Touching video, nearly had me in tears. My dad and gramps was at this game and had went down those same stairs, but they left early. RIP to all those rangers fans that died that day. Was such a tragedy. RIP Absent friends. They will always be in our hearts. x

I was at this game as a young boy with my older brother, luckily we left by the other stairway. I remember Celtic scoring in the last minute and everyone rushing for the exit stairways, as we were halfway down the stairs Rangers equalised and people started trying to run back up. I think this is what caused the disaster on Stairway 13,the sheer number of people trying to go up and down at the same time. RIP Absent Friends Never Forgotten.

i can't watch this without thinking of the 96 people who die at hillsborough 18 years later.i remember the rangers team at the time went down to the sheffield wednesday playing ground and laid a wreath in memory of the fans that died that day and i thought that that was really decent of them! so to the 66 that died in 1971 and to the 96 that died in 1989 i hope that they all rest in peace.

@MrJosiebhoy , Nearly all of the big Stadiums had problems with the crowds then. Turn up on the day and pay to get in, all standing terracing with a few stands with some seats. I was only wee then and crowds at Ibrox, Hampden, parkhead and Tynecastle were truly massive and going in and getting out of the grounds was very scary especially when we used to get carried along in the crowd and the crush but it was the normal thing then. We used to slide down the bankings rather use the exit stairs

@MrJosiebhoy In 1902 there was another disaster at Ibrox, involving a Scotland - England game, where 25 people died. This was in another part of the ground though. In 1961 the same stairway caused the loss of 2 people due to a crush. Rangers had already spent a very large sum to improve safety by then, so there was something done. Sadly enough nobody could have predicted a drama of such magnitude.

@merfwriter basically celtic scored with 1 min left of normal time,then rangers scored on 90 mins rangers fans fans leaving rushed up the stairs n were met by the fans leaving,no 1 actually knows who it happened but witnesses say a boy tripped .....sad sad day

@merfwriter celtic were leading one nil as the game went into injury time so the rangers fans began to leave the stadium but then rangers scored and some off the crowd turned to go back up the stairway and thats when the crush happened
