I'm glad there's icebergs, they're one of the only things that can keep my attention span watching, like a mental cleansing from youtube shorts.

Ralph Clevenger, the photographer who shot that iceberg image was my teacher. He taught nature photography and the image paid for his son’s college tuition! Thanks for mentioning him.

I made a video myself about why iceberg videos were popular, but I think that you elaborated further here about how long-form content reduces the decisions we need to make choosing something to watch. I realized that thats how I've been thinking without even knowing it!

Not only are your other videos well researched and explained in a near academic manner but you went out of your way to apply this to a video explaining arguably the most glorified version of a Top 10 list. Sidenote: The Greek "εσωτερικός/esoterikos" is pronounced as esoterikOs, not esotErikos. Other than that, another great video🖤.

i agree with your points. also a bummer about icebergs is that you can’t spend as much time on a topic as you would like to. i found myself watching an iceberg video and the youtuber touched on something i knew about and i was frustrated because she left so many details out. then i remembered, it’s an iceberg video lol

Duncan. I have something to ask. I really enjoy your KZbin videos because they talk about philosophy in an entertaining way, but when it comes to learn Philosophy in a college it feels so tiring to read a lot of those old philosophers that have a very complex vocabulary. So I don't know if I truly like philosophy or I just like your videos (I'm Brazilian and right now I'm reading meditations and studying a bit of stoicism)

I cannot help you with philosophy, but there is one story from my life which kind of goes in a similar direction: While at school, I was really interested in Sciences, especially maths, physics and chemistry and wasnt too bad at those (while also not being too outstandingly great as well). After school, I went studying in that field. I couldn't cope with it, it was too abstract, complex, unintuitive, couldn't make my own sense out of it or develop some actual understanding in a way my brain does. No matter how hard I tried, nothing ever seemed to work out. Also, the tempo required for learning, understanding, practising and preparing for exams was way too fast for me. My brain seemed to be overwhelmed by it and the type of teaching / the requirements a student had to meet in order to survive made didn't make it any easier. I wasn't just made for the STEM field. I ended up with a depression and apparently was close to remove myself from existence. I have done a restart, clean slate, changed degrees and switched to something entirely different, something I could rather cope with. But anyway, the main point is that after the first attempt to study has failed, I didn't want to have anything in common with Sciences like maths, physics etc., I hated them, all interest, all joy was gone, the topic only triggered my bad, painful and traumatic memories. It was only a few years later that I have re-discovered my interest in those, thanks to all those science oriented channels on KZbin. Those channels not only were a good source of entertainment for those long afternoons and evenings, but were really engaging, made the content finally understandable and sparked the joy and passion I have been missing. I even wanted to turn it into a full hobby, make it more rigorous and systematic, like going from watching KZbin videos to searching for proper learning resources, textbooks and other stuff, so that I could work myself through an entire studies' curricum on my own, not because I have to, but because I want to and am genuinely passionate about. Sadly that plan has gone a bit into the background lately, as my general mental health state is deteriorating back again and my job/career (I am also highly passionate about) just demands too much time and energy. My life is fucking joke.

I dislike disturbance being used as a criteria for positioning. For me it should be based purely on obscurity. Unsurprisingly, I don't care for videos that prioritise disturbing content. Even though I like disturbing entries.

Basing politics of fiction was a behaviour that occurred mostly on Twitter- usually equating Harry Potter or Star Wars or Marvel cringe. Example - a left wing sjw post about stopping patriarchy or oppression comparing it to being a super hero or a rebel Jedi. Other examples are using lessons or history of fiction to compare with real world events and demonstrate why your political point of view is just. It isn’t really a deep topic although has strands to author Michael Ende and the belief of Anthroposophy. Yet I don’t think most are aware of the connection.
