how did you cut the table for the sink without unboxing the sink?

Hi there loved the video! I’m installing one myself today. What are the measurements of the cut out on the countertop ? And How far back did you cut to get that perfect fit ? Thanks in advance!

Hi! I am in the process of installing this sink as well, but am having trouble getting sink cut-out measurement confirmation from IKEA. Before I cut the counters, I was wondering if you had all the measurements of the cuts that were done that I could cross-reference with mine prior to cutting mine. Thank you!

I'm also installing one from Ikea. How is your farmsink hold up? I saw alot of people complaining about the sink cracked. Thank you

Thanks for the video. 4:12 You guys should buy a caulking gun instead of monkeying around with a little tube. A caulking gun will give you a much better bead with better control. Cheers.

Do ya’ll know if these Belfast sinks with the lip can be used with Formica worktops? I’ve heard it’s not wise to use the under style Belfast sinks with Formica worktops as they can lift if water gets in but I’m wondering if these would be good ones to use to get around this issue?

Hey Mark! Unfortunately we've never come across that combo, so we really don't know. Thanks for watching and good luck with your project!

@@markcrawford5274 I can answer this! I’m installing this sink in our kitchen. When I spoke to the IKEA kitchen department while planning we were unsure on countertop selection at that time (laminate vs quartz; wanted to see what budget would allow). We were told his can be used with laminate/Formica countertops.

I have the double HAVSEN sink and love it. So many people comment on how much they like it and would like one in their home. The depth of the sink is wonderful and they are so easy to clean. I know one of my friends has had one installed in her new kitchen after using mine and another is considering it. Just a question for you as well. Did you increase the height of your benches? I had mine made higher due to my height.
@TheBrothersWorkshop3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing Maria! We couldn't agree more, and with Dave's experience using one of these sinks on a separate project we knew it would work well here too! To answer your question we didn't increase the height. We're both fairly tall guys (6'-3"), and didn't feel the need to change anything up. We hope this answered your question! Have a wonderful day!
@mariasmith5343 жыл бұрын
@@TheBrothersWorkshop Thanks for the reply. Maybe benches were taller then. I'm no good with measurements but I had my benches increased another 10cm in height to the horror of my chippie. Now it seems many people are doing the same. Either Aussies were shorter, less inclined to spend money and more environmentally aware (kitchens were timber doors/frames etc then) or we are taller and materials are more environmentally aware now in some context anyway. Enjoy your day.

Thank you for this video. Is the faucet from Ikea?

We're glad you enjoyed the video! The faucet is not from Ikea. We picked the faucet up at our local Lowes.

Nice.. Just want I was planing to do with a wooden counter top.. Can you share with me the inner width of your cabinet that you installed this on? I have a non-ikea 24" sink base and want to be sure the inner width was going to be sufficient for the Havsen.. The dimensions on ikea site are unclear :)
@TheDecoCottage2 жыл бұрын
The single bowl works in a 24” base cabinet. I’m installing an IKEA kitchen in my house right now and I have a 24” base cabinet.

Are they pretty good sink? I heard they crack easily.
@TheBrothersWorkshop3 жыл бұрын
Hey! They are a great sink, and they don't crack easily. We unfortunately did have one crack on us, but that because we removed it after it was already installed. We failed to remove all of the adhesive holding it to the former countertops. We wouldn't have had an issue otherwise.

The reviews of Havsen sink and the sister Havsen double sink in particular on Ikea's site are terrible, sadly. I am seeing people saying that the sinks won't hold water to do dishes in them, and that the material both sinks are made of is cracking when they drain hot pasta water in them. Lots of people talking about the sinks cracking for all kinds of everyday use reasons.
@TheBrothersWorkshop2 жыл бұрын
Hi Randal! We've never had any issues with this sink. It's held up very well, and it's been used since being installed (when this video was uploaded). I'm not sure how the sink wouldn't hold water, or how it would crack due to hot water..….. It sounds like there may have been underlying issues these people aren't being forthcoming about.... 🤔 We had another sink prior to this one but we broke it when replacing our old counter tops. That had nothing to do with how the sink was manufactured.
@christataggart57582 жыл бұрын
I am in the process of designing my kitchen and choosing a sink and the reviews about not holding water are concerning as we do a lot of dishes. Do you think you didn’t have this issue as you used the drainage from the old sink?
@mrpaulsanderson3 жыл бұрын
So amateur and very little information about the real installation. The most important part of the job is the cutting of the worktop, and yours was already done!
@TheBrothersWorkshop3 жыл бұрын
Hey Paul! Yes, our cut out was already preformed by the manufacturer of the countertop. This was done because we purchased the sink prior to the purchase of the countertop. Because the countertop is granite we gave our sink measurements to the countertop company. The granite countertops came pre-cut and ready for the installation of the sink. If we needed to cut the countertop, than we would have but we didn't. In no way shape or form do we claim to be professionals. This is a DIY channel. Thanks for watching.
