I’m 5 min from that bridge y’all put in at, & that little stretch is one of my favorites when I’ve only got a couple hours to fish. That spot where the power lines cross is always money. 20”+ fish are in there, but they’re not easy to find. An 18” smallie there is very brag-worthy. Glad y’all enjoyed our beautiful river!

You and Creek Fishing John - Found you via him. I hope you two can combine on other trips - And being only a couple miles from the Illinois River myself, it's good fishing. I have a question, I see a lot of tournament fishermen using a left-hand baitcasting reel. But I suspect most are right-handers. Is that just because it saves the step of switching hands after the cast? Probably a Chesnut Lamprey. There is also a brook lamprey in OK.
@thecreekcrawler5 ай бұрын
We definitely are going to fish again!! I would love to live close to that river! I have always used a left handed reel. I am a righty though. It just seems natural that way for me. I believe you may be right for the brook lamprey. We have them in Ohio

Do you just straight retrieve that trace or do you put some action on it with the rod? I've got a trace and never caught anything on it.
@thecreekcrawler5 ай бұрын
I put action on it with my retrieve. If you notice I will vary my retrieve speed. This makes the bait swing wide left and right and come to a stop. It gets them fired up!!
