Despite being formally disbanded by the pope 51 years earlier, when Norway first got its modern Constitution in 1814, it did still take the time to explicitly ban the Jesuits from entering the country (Jews were unfortunately also banned). Then, literally two months later in august of 1814 the Pope restored the Jesuits.

Despite the universal ban of the Jesuites, the ban was not literally universal, the kingdom of Prussia and the polish part of the Empire of Russia decided that they would not apply that edict of the Pope, because they didn't like him ^^ The Jesuites survived during the 50 years of ban, although with difficulty, they lost 90% of their members, from 23 000 to 2 000 members. But they still were there, so it make sense to still legislate against them ^^ And if you're wondering why the Pope banned them, then his successor changed his mind, it's because of the Enlightenments. In the 1750s and 70s, a lot of catholics kingdoms had "enlightened despots" like Friedrich the Great who conisdered that religion should be destructured, and that the Jesuits were a major pillar of the Papacy, so it was easy to attack the jesuites to diminish the influence of the Pope in their lands. And the Pope finally accepted the general pressure and banned the Jesuits in 1773. And twenty years later, the French revolted, with the ideas of the Enlightments as their main inspiration, and decapitated a king to proclaim a Republic... Let's just say, that it changed the opinion of a lot of monarchs about this whole Enlightment XD And so after the big mess that had been Napolon's wars, the Pope thought it could be a good time to reinstate the jesuits that he never really wanted to ban in the first place XD

In my homeland (Czechia or Czech republic) we had a secret Society in medieval times. They called themselves Brotherhood of Hammer and Hoop. Anfortunately we don't have much information.
