My grandfather Mr Tomas Vale, was born in Birmingham uk. He passed away 20 years age 82. His uncle was Albert Austin ,seen here with Charlie Chaplin in the restaurant scene. My grand father used to tell me that when he was a little boy, Albert Austin left for America with Charlie Chaplin. As years went by My grandfathers uncle kept asking him to join him and make a new life with him in America, but my grandfather never did. He was only a young boy at the time. The resemblance of Albert Austin and my grandfather is uncanny. These great movies now 100 years old are a priceless treasure for everyone to enjoy.

A highly enjoyable film.👍😆🎥⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I studied this man with British y Jewish roots, born in April. I can relate. A perfectionist with etiquette regardless of the any given situation. Always having a heart for the disadvantaged, sharing, caring, funny, expressive, never putting up with bad behaviors even thou it would appear that you at your self in a bad way. As a child my father told me that I should have marry my own kind because it is hard on the children. I knew not what he meant. Now I understand. I should have married a messianic Jew. The gentile husbands have done little to nothing to better me as a human being. I could have prevented many a mistake had I known. To birth Jewish children, it is to birth little diamonds y they should be carefully polished, y cultivated step by step with much love y support. I am grateful God considered making me Jewish. We are set apart y the world have never respected us y welcomed us into their fold. We are a mockery because we carry God's seal. I am blessed thru my tragedies still maintaining a greatful heart thru adversaries as God is always constant. Thank you sir Charles Chaplin for making this dark, cold, cruel world much lighter even after your death. Shalom.

Jim Miller I turned it way down after the electric guitar snapped me out of my WWI era reverie. I’m an electric guitar player, here it’s not appropriate. I think they wanted to pack the hall with a “brilliant/new” interpretation but I agree that they got it right the first time. Idk if this film came w orchestral instructions or those have been lost but didn’t some old films came w musical performance notes and even scores?

This vid has 20 times more views than all other videos by Mr. Cuadrado *combined.* Hitching his music to a popular perennial by the most famous of all filmmakers has thus been "successful", evidently, though the music is completely disconnected, anachronistic and arbitrary. It has absolutely *nothing* to do with the film! Having said that, I liked the music *itself* very much, actually, and it'll make me check out Alexis Cuadrado's oeuvre. I only wish musicians would take back their ego and be really creative by accompanying silent movies in an appealing and more empathic, humble way.
@alexiscuadrado3 жыл бұрын
Henri, as much as I appreciate your comments, it's as simple as: Don't listen if you don't like it! Thanks so much!

You obviously misread my comment. I wrote _"I _*_liked_*_ the music itself very much, actually, and it'll make me check out Alexis Cuadrado's oeuvre."_

The music makes about as much sense as watching Steve McQueen in Bullitt with a Andre Rieu soundtrack.
@misskim20587 жыл бұрын
Watch with the sound off. Or play whatever you like, it will be better and more relevant. But the film is great, and the uoload appreciated nonetheless. I think the few comments that "liked" the music may have been the "band" members themselves, or their friends, or their mom or dad. Silent films are best when the goal is to create the closest thing to the original experience in as many ways as possible. Otherwise, there are loads of experimental crap and terrible films that came out in the last 100 years. Things done to perfection, and most of the surviving silent films were, were just that, perfect, and can't be imoivd upon, only marred with shortcomings.

Yes, Charlie Chaplin had a difficult and cruel childhood with his sick mother and Syed brothers and suffered from hunger and deprivation as a child. This is what made him make his comedies to relieve his suffering in them and this is the reason for the success of those films because he was honestly acting, so this honesty has remained to this day for nearly a hundred years..
