Ironically according to Alderi myth Isha isn't just the mother of the Alderi, but of all life/sapient's.
@jacobfreeman54449 ай бұрын
It could be that Isha is experimenting on humanity just as she is being experimented on. Giving boons against certain threats and seeing what comes of it. Not for their own good but as a weapon against her captor. After all the space elves don't have much going for them right now. Kinda pointless to do that kind of things on a long lived species that is not able to replenish their numbers very quickly. Even one bad result would be devastating to both them and her.
@danielabreuer96179 ай бұрын
I appreciate this approach to the lore very much. Looking at a phenomenon that is yet unexplained, looking what information lore provides and might be a logical explenation for this phenomenon, then theorizing lore-based instead of hypothezing out of the blue or just repeating and rephrasing what the sources say. And offering several possible explanations parallel without valueing them and claiming the one or the other to be "the" truth. Thank you very much for your work.

Given their proximity to the eye of terror and the main foe they ended up fighting against, I could also see Tzeentch's subtle influence at work, its not exactly his traditional method but it is empowering a foe that inconveniences his main rival's underlings so I could see this as part of the great game.

Indeed. The Aeldari don't need Ynnead. They have Isha. Make something out of it.
@Jebbis7 ай бұрын
@@Matt-md5ytthat’s exactly what I did for my wrath and glory game. Following the Farseer’s vision the intrepid heroes found themselves in a daemon of Tzeench’s labyrinth and eventually made it to the center where its lair was. In this lair they see many statues in various sizes and states of wear with one being quite larger than the others holding a very large axe, but its features are worn and unidentifiable. They fight the daemon and are not fairing well and suddenly the Farseer gets a message telling her just one thing “The axe”. She yells to the Primaris to see if he can get the axe that the hulking humanoid figure is holding. The Primaris gets the axe and after an almost complete TPK they mange to kill the daemon. Moments after they kill the daemon the hulking statue and a couple others shatter and become human again, the Primaris doesn’t know who this is but is instantly filled with a need to bow before him. The man identifies himself as Russ and two of the others who went on his quest to find the tree of life and tells them that he was mistaken and that “it was no tree, but a she” how they made it to the garden and stumbled upon Isha. They could not free her and were attacked by forces of Nurgle, forced to retreat, and were badly worn down and captured by this daemon. As they escape the warp I cut to a scene of Björn The Fell Handed suddenly stirring and howling in triumph and as the chapter master comes to see him he just yells. “RUSS LIVES!”

You left out the possibility of it being something Daemonic. A rival of Nurgle could be shielding them, not for their own sake but as part of an overly intricate plot to weaken the Plague Lord's standing in The Great Game. It could even be one of the Grandfather's own schemes to bring them gradually but inexorably into his fold by slowly exposing them to more and more of his "gifts".

Frozen world might have less capacity for developing a robust immune system. Colder climates tend to have less diverse pathogens. But the Imperium has been fielding gene enhanced regiments since before unification. The Geno 52 Chiliad being a good example. While much has been lost it certainly seems possible that the technology and knowledge exists to perform more subtle and less obvious gene enhancements on baseline humans. Pumping up shock troops with an incredibly resilient immune system would certainly be advantageous.
@Lumen_Obscurum9 ай бұрын
It's entirely possible that the resilience is due to an inherent change brought about my their climate. Their body might be more efficient at heating itself, which means when a pathogen triggers and immune response their core temp goes up super fast and burns the infection out. Or perhaps it's a reverse, that their bodies have adapted to run colder than baseline human which means the pathogen is in a very different environment than what it expects. At least, those are "40K" style ideas for why their immune systems seem so much stronger than everyone else's without it being Isha's doing.
@Lumen_Obscurum9 ай бұрын
Oh, and I just thought of another explanation. Crossing the xenopathogen and frozen world idea. Their world may have an ancient Aeldari antigen that Isha could influence through, the Whisper of Isha we can call it. The antigen was frozen upon their world at some point, whether it be via a medical ship crashing or whatever. The antigen has since escaped confinement and then been frozen in the ice. The humans have unknowingly taken in the antigen in their water supply, which we could call something like the Tears of Isha. These pass on her whispered immune responses to the host body to protect it, and while it was *intended* for Eldar to use it, Humanity is just as much at threat from Nurgle.

It's a possibility that the Schola selects those who only come from a specific type of death world to train to become Lions. Another possibility is that this could have been some sort of machination of the Emperor, altering baseline humans during the Great Crusade. He did have his fingers in a lot of pies.
@cantorofleng78379 ай бұрын
I wonder why scions are not given some kind of close range specialization/support unit, considering how expensive and difficult each solider is to train and equip. I can see some minor augmentations done for example, to increase their affinity to slav and frenzon- there has been precedence of their 30k analog, the solar auxilla equipping their troops with power axes. Bone'ead auxiliaries would also go a long way.

A random though for the Isha theory, with the world heing near the Eye of Terror. What if instead of Isha directly giving aid, instead it is thr world was a former Aeldari world pre-slaneesh and maybe the world has her blessing rather than the humans on it.
@PrancingGoldfish9 ай бұрын
It could be argued that because the Eldari dont really have the forces to truly fight chaos, Isha chose to empower humanity becuase they actually have the manpower to take the fight to chaos. Eldar try to avoid fighting as much as possible because it will take them a long time to recoup the losses.

I reckon they've undergone some modification to increase their metabolic rate, this would make it more difficult for a pathogen or toxin to adversely affect them, but overclocking the body like this would naturally lead them to aging faster which is not an ideal trait for highly trained elite soldiers. But as a specialist force, for specific missions, the trade-off is worthwhile.

Think the genetic surgery route makes sense due to how most of the surgeries require a stronger acceptance rate and tougher people usually. It also could be the genetic modifications make them resistant to normal diseases is so resource intensive and the knowledge so rare that only the Lions get it, like so much of 40k wonder tech. Especially if like Astartes gene modification only a small number of cadets survive the process. This could also mean only a small number of humans are capable of surviving the gene enhancement. But as for resisting Nurgles 'Gifts', that comes from Faith in the God Emperor alone.

Could it be Tzeentch? Changing the immunity of the Lions too fast for Nurgle to infect, messing with the Imperium and Nurgle at the same time 😋
@ShadowPhoenixMaximus9 ай бұрын
The only reason the Eldar would help humanity is to use them as shield. Immunity to disease helps, but you're still going to die if you get shot or stabbed. So I think if Isha had given her blessing to the Deltic Lions, then its likely to use them as an expendable tool to deal with the worst Nurgle has to throw at the galaxy. The other possibility is that they're eldar-human hybrids and thus worthy of her attention? :P
@danielabreuer96179 ай бұрын
Eldar-human hybrids are biological impossible - at least in the natural way - as Aeldari are biologically and physioligically completely different. I even tend to believe that they aren't carbon-based life at all, so with a completely different biochemistry. And would take a lot of bioenegiering and maybe even psyonic help to create a hybrid.

If Isha is the one that is giving the lions their immunity I would wager she either fears drawing slaanesh's eye, knows aiding the eldar would draw her attention and she's uncertain on what the outcome would be since even if Nergal drove Slaanesh back he might imprison her more securely and keep her from giving anyone any sort of aid, or she recognizes that while Humanity has no love for her or her people they are the main focus of Chaos's eye so giving them aid benefits everyone in this instance. As for only the lions? That might be all she can do. She Is the prisoner of a sweaty neckbeard that thinks feeding her toxic coking the likes Gordon Ramsey hasn't ever seen is romantic.
