to be fair, there were practically always rumours of zayn leaving. i was a fan since up all night and pretty much every few weeks or months there would be rumours going around about at least one of the guys planning to leave the group. my parents were making fun of me for not believing them when it actually happened because they said they'd heard rumours, but they'd said the same thing during take me home and midnight memories as well because those rumours were genuinely kind of constant. i was pretty active in fan circles at the time and literally every single one of us who'd heard the rumours just rolled our eyes and immediately dismissed them because we'd already heard it before and it had never happened

Flashback to 2015 i was doing internship and a friend of mine attended the otra in manila and the first thing she said to us was that Zayn wasnt on her show, it was such a hectic day for us but we managed to talk about that. 2015 was the worst year of my life. Zayn left and then on september 8th my cousin died suddenly. I used to listen to 1D with her, so her dying was horrible. I could no longer have 1D ad my safe space. I completely left the fandom and became deeply depressed. Then 2019/202 came around and I have been stuck since. A few days ago Pinterest randomly showed me a magazine article from the 90s about Robbie Williams leaving Take That and it had a section about what various celebrities had said about it and they included quotes from the spokesmen/press officers for the Prime Minister and the Queen because they actually reached out to them to see if they wanted to comment on the situation (they did not) so I think boybands have just always inspired a level of fanaticism and hysteria (for lack of a better word) that just can’t be found in any other context

i have memory issues but i do remember the time when i found out about Zayn leaving. I was soooo happy he left. A little before he left I saw him on Ellen. He was so scrawny and when they all stood up from the sofa he almost lost his balance. I was a mother of teenagers at the time. Hey ! First time on your channel and I really haven't experienced this since I was just 10 at that time in 2015 , but now as I have researched about it I found that Zayn suffered racism and Islamophobia in the band , the fans would bring posters in the concert calling him terrorist kill the terrorist,(still thinking how the management even allow it in the concerts) from famous interviewers comparing him to terrorist, and making him uncomfortable in interviews to the point that he has to wear a t-shirt stating "I am not a terrorist please don't kill me" yet there was not a single person in that band who stood up for him! While on the other hand there are videos where Zayn literally took a stand for his bandmates on camera, I could totally understand how he would have felt . In call her daddy interview he literally mentioned there were underlying issues in their friendship. I also saw on X today that he literally had to pay extra for breaking tha contract and is given no royalties for his contribution in the band. The situation must have been way tough for him than we can imagine. Zayn's statement " I felt numb when I took that decision it doesn't felt concious decision at that time" .I saw a thread on X where that person mentioned that 1.they all use to smoke weed but only Zayn video got leaked by one of his bandmate who was smoking too and he received all the hate , this was dated way before he left .As a poc he was the one who endures all the hate . No wonder he jumped the gun. 2.The statement that was put out after his departure was not him Zayn said in the interview it made it look like he is retiring from music which was not the case so he got alot of hate for his solo career too. 3. Zayn never ever badmouth about the boys and was always grateful for what one direction gave him . He remembers the time spent in the band fondly. 4. Zayn seems to have healed now, 9 years later he remembers his time in the band much fondly then now 5. He mentioned after having baby Khai his perspective on life has changed alot 6. Yesterday in his streaming party on stationhead people were requesting for one direction song and he fondly put you and I out acknowledging that they made some good muisc together and he is now listening to One direction and reminisce good times he spent there. *I hope you will talk about racism and Islamophobia he faced* Also really liked your video much love❤

Thank you for mentioning the racism and islamphobia he suffered. I could just imagine the loneliness and hurt he felt when nobody would ever call the “fans” out. It goes to show how targeted he was but at the same time, he literally had no one to turn to. To state the obvious, nobody understood how he felt because they couldn’t. That was most likely an underlying issue within the friendships they had. Years later, I’m so happy to hear updates on him so thank you for numbering them!

I think there was a jealousy aspect by 2014. If you watch the New Years Eve 2014 interview, they were having issues with who would answer a question. Harry started, then Liam started. Both stopped. Harry said "go Liam". Liam said "You go". Harry said "You go" and Zayn is looking Harry like "Why did you leave him go". Niall is trying to ignore it by playing with his mic. During the Arias in Nov. 2014, Liam made it a point to embarrass Niall when they were asked about what they most remember about their visits to Australia over the years. Liam said Niall and his spitting out of the Vegemite. Niall looked so embarrass. Harry turned and look at Liam like "What the hell is wrong with you". Louis turned at look at Liam like "If I was you, I would shut up". Zayn turned and spoke to Niall to try and comfort him. There were shows in July 2014, where Louis refuse to harmonize with Zayn. During one show, during the song Moments, you can see Zayn goes to Louis after the song Moments and asked him why he wasn't singing. Louis responded, "I didn't feel like it". Zayn got upset and went to talk to Harry. Harry told Zayn to forget about it. Harry was mad. At the end of the next song, which was Strong, Harry went on stood by Zayn instead of between Liam and Louis. Harry made the move to go to Louis and Zayn begged Harry not to do it. Harry then grabbed his bottle of water and went to begin the next song which was "Better than words". Larry's like to mention that in Nov. 2014 Harry and Louis came out from being the stage like they were making out. No. They were going to fight. About the weed video in May 2014, Zayn and Louis were in the van. Louis cannot be seen, only Zayn can be seen smoking, Louis cannot but Louis is narrating the video. Who leaked the video? It was never told who leaked the video. It was Louis' video. So, who leaked it? It is either Louis or someone close to him? Why leak it? Louis is not on it. Zayn is. According to Liam, Louis is the one that fought for the band to go Rock. He said at the time, he did not agree with Louis. But Louis pushed for it. I think Louis pushed for it as a way to get Zayn out. Zayn did not like the music you were making and you as a "band member" and his "friend" push for more of what he did not like. After all of his songs are refused for the album and most of your songs goes on that album and then you made it a point to get in every interview and say how there were so many songs to choose from that album ended up being the biggest album you all have ever had, but you couldn't find room for ONE of your own member's songs. That is not a friend. That is a "frenemy". This is why Harry told Zane Lowe that when he wrote his songs, he wrote them with Zayn in mind. They were purposely excluding him. I think that is why after Zayn left, all of Zayn parts to Harry's songs were done by Harry or Niall. Louis nor Liam sang Zayn's parts. I think Harry would have started a war. Niall was asked in 2018, about the hiatus and a reunion and he said "we needed the break or else we would have ended up fighting" and the interviewer said "really?" and he responded "definitely". Harry does not and has never seen 1D as a 4. After Zayn left, Harry pulled out the yellow boots. He was representing Zayn and himself. I think Louis was a big reason why Zayn left and why Harry left right after. Harry asked for the hiatus in June, right after they went back on tour without Zayn. He never told them he was coming back. (Louis also said it made him mad because Harry refuse to give a return time). As Harry told Howard Stern and Zane Lowe, he never blamed Zayn for leaving. Harry just thought he could have done it at the end of the tour. Harry realized, 8 years later, that his view and Zayn's view of life in the band was not the same. Even Zane Lowe said that to Harry. Zane Lowe understood what drove Zayn to do what he did.

Its just really horrible that they didnt get the chance and the liberty to evolve together as people and artists, i know it was impossible for them to stay together as they werent made for that right from the beginning, i mean you dont sign a group like that for three albums im three years if you think they have like a decade ahead of them. I was in my freshman year of high school on my way to health class. As I walked up to the door, I noticed some of my friends waiting outside and crying. I came up to them to check if they were okay and they told me the news. I didn’t believe them and I ran to check Twitter. i don’t remember the exact moment of finding out but i remember the seconds after, i was at school and girls were falling in the hallway sobbing, tears down my face, girls screaming, it was definitely a horror scene. zayn leaving also started the biggest war in the 1d fandom i feel. the racist comments about zayn, harry’s behavior in interviews (i.e. zebra???), ot4 vs. ot5, etc. had me fighting for my life at the lunch table and online 😭

The fact the fandom acted so shocked when Zayn left 1D while I felt you could have predicted it since..... Zayn first refused to participate to the dance class in X factor. It was just waiting for a crash to come, that boy never fit the boyband concept. Also I was mad at the fandom hating him for it because that was so narcissist of them, claiming caring for 1D members, seeing how Zayn has been in discomfort for so long, then his obvious physical and mental health trouble.... him leaving was the best for his sake. It feels so odd bc i was 10 when zayn left i wasnt necessarily sad. It felt nothing.. i feel bad for saying this but it's true. I was walking school with my friend and she told me. Why i felt nothing might be bc i was quite new fan, just a few months or something so that's peobably why. Also i knew NOTHING about music and being fan in general. For example i didnt know songs had titles😭 (i didnt speak english at all so i thought there were just some random text) and i had no idea what an album was. I thought all non-singles with the album cover were all the same song over and over again so i didnt listen to those💀 and dont even ask if i knew what a fandom was, i had ZERO idea.. im thankful for my mom for taking me to their concert on 12th october 2015. She definitely saw i really liked the band, even tho i knew basically nothing

I wanna add that i was absolutely devaststed when i heard that they are going on hiatus. It felt so horrible that i couldnt listent to them anymore. I remember being with the same friends sitting on a wooden thing and i couldnt believe that they were going hiatus/breaking up. Keep in mind that i had no idea they were doing solo stuff. So i decided to not to listen to them anymore. I didnt listen to them in spring 2016 to fall 2019 almost at all. (I went to middle school in 2017 and usually there ppl hate everything especially popular stuff so that was also a reason i didnt listen to them). By those couple of years i became much better at english and wanted to see what the boys are doing. It was also at the time when harry was promoting fine line and then i started really being a fan, well obviously i always were a fan but then i joined to the fandom and learned all of that fandom stuff🫶
