In todays essay, I am talking about Hardboiled Wonderland and the End of the World by Haruki Murakami.
Across two parallel narratives, Murakami draws readers into a mind-bending universe in which Lauren Bacall, Bob Dylan, a split-brained data processor, a deranged scientist, his shockingly undemure granddaughter, and various thugs, librarians, and subterranean monsters collide to dazzling effect. What emerges is a novel that is at once hilariously funny and a deeply serious meditation on the nature and uses of the mind.

Towards the end I thought the dream reader that is the narrator would leave the wonderland but it was such a plot twist for me that he decided to stay behind and let the shadow escape. Speaks volumes about how love can effect a man’s thinking and make a man make extreme decisions in expense of his mind itself not thinking about himself. Hard boiled wonderland sure is a underrated book with deep meanings about perfectionism of the world
