They came to Puerto Rico in 1985 for a concert. I was in university and a good friend invited me and paid the ticket, $10! Its 2019 and that has been the greatest musical experience since. There were maybe 15,000 or more in Coliseo Roberto Clemente. You cannot find that level of music and Gods purity in today’s lyrics... Stand By the Power was the last song.... of course!!! We all went to the arena to enjoy that moment. Was great...

The Imperials, in their 1986 Let The Wind Blow tour I took my wife, then girlfriend to enjoy them. Im here to revisit those precious memories. That was 35 years ago. Shes been in Jesus presence now for 6 weeks - we miss her terribly but REJOICE knowing shes 100% healed in Jesus presence. Every Truth we hear sung here is her Full Time reality. Through my tears Im finding Strength to carry on from this heavenly supply, to the Praise of His Glory ! David in Texas

My sister brought home an album of the Imperials (...Now) from Bible college when I was a teenager in the 60's. I was hooked from that point on. I not only began singing their songs in my church, but would sing at least one of their songs after joining a regional Southern Gospel Quartet years later (and sang at least one on our new albums periodically) even though I was pianist only on most of them. The great combination of talent and sound that Armond would place around him to me never wavered down through the years. Thanks to all who have made it possible for everyone to once again experience all the classic moments of the Imperials!

this entire album, every single track is a hit. vocals, lyrics, production, all well done. in my opinion, the only knock against paul smith is that he wasn't russ taff who had become the voice of the imperials.
@kevinmkraft5 жыл бұрын
That Paul Smith wasn't Russ Taff wasn't a "knock," so to speak. But you're right, Russ had become so identified with the group. I remember first seeing them in concert with Paul, they were still touring off the Priority album, and Paul had to sing Russ' leads from that album...and it didn't sound good because the two men have such different voices. I actually thought it was all over. Paul was trying to sing "Russ'" songs his own way and it just sounded like he was trying to fill Russ's shoes. But...when Stand By the Power came out, the producer played to Paul's vocal strength and the results are fantastic. Very different voices and vocal styles. But this album was fantastic for Paul's. I can't imagine Russ Taff trying to sing these songs and sounding as good as Paul. Paul has more of a "rock" voice and less "soulful" than Russ. So the rock edginess of this album made for a great fit and a very underrated album. And because Paul's voice blended so well with Jim's, it's sometimes hard to tell who's singing the higher parts! I play this album more than any of the others.

Not to defend but explain this: CD Digital Albums weren't widely offered until about mid-1984 - and sadly most record companies were so focused on getting their newer albums on CD that they didn't go back through their catalog & remaster / reissue their older albums on CD. The occasional exception being if a Compilation or Greatest Hits Album was issued after 1985 normally were on CD. Ive got a couple late 70s-early 80s DeGarmo & Key albums on CD this way. There is a music company that specializes in reviving early Classsic CCM albums to Remaster CD Reissues. I just bought their Reissue of 1984 Daniel Band "Run From the Darkness" (best hard Rock CCM album ever made, hands down, IMHO) That company is www.boonesoverstock.com Perhaps they take requests for albums ?

@@jayheinz4624 I'm sure by my account name you can tell I'm a huge Toto fan LOL! Actually Jeff Porcaro from Toto played drums on this album along with a lot of other christian artists like Liaison, Bob Carlisle, Steve Camp and most of Russ's Walls Of Glass album to name a few. As for Luke yes he did turn the corner on some pretty hard living from his past. He talks about it in some interviews and also in his book that was released a couple of years ago. He says he is a believer in God and Jesus but everyone walks their own path with faith and though I don't personally know him he seems to have a grasp of what God can do for ones life if they trust in him. Either way you can't deny He, Jeff and all of the countless studio musicians that helped shape contemporary christian music were given gift from the Almighty and he used them for furthering his word even if they didn't pursue it their own careers. But that is just my opinion.
