Hi Laramy, A Great review. I now get my emergency stock lenses from Zennioptical.

Can my optician adjust axis on a stock lense or does that need to be ordered

Hey John, awesome video. As far as a Rx with a high cyl power -4 and above would you always have to wait a few days or are there ever options to have them sent overnight?
@LaramyKOptical6 жыл бұрын
Matt, Many things, even high cylinder, can be turned around in just one day. As mentioned in the lab video last week, "5 hours is a best-case scenario for the application of a premium AR coat." Much may just depend on when you call the job in! With cylinder above 4 I would weigh quality over speed any day! John

Fantastic content. How many people actually go into a visit with optician have ANY of this info? Very few I think.I never did. Thank you

On Thursday I got my remade lenses with new prescription. At first it seemed ok. But i kept feeling like something was keeping me from seeing well. I held my glasses up to a bright light and discovered abrasions or shapes like snowflakes and open oval like circle that remind me of flying birds shapes in the lenses. Is this normal? When i had my progressives the only thing I saw was lenses brand and the power. Granted these are the cheapest frames and lenses I got but I justed needed a quick pair to fill my need to see. I am getting better frames and lenses but not at the same place I dont place. This is the same place where i was given two completely different prescription in less than a month from two different doctors. I think i need to go to another place thats got long term reputation.

I'd need to see them to be sure. Yep - I'd say it sounds like it is time to try a different optician.

Do you need to stock the exact prescription ? How would you know the prescription the softball girl is going to need ? Maybe her eyesight deteriorated by 0.50 or maybe by 0.75 aren't there way too many possible combinations astigmatism, no astigmatism, the sphere, all the values ? I'm not an optician but these are really enjoyable for some reason :D but am I missing something about how stocks work aren't there too many variables for stocking to be possible ? Is adding astigmatism something separate from the power of the lens how does that work ?

WOW - Excellent Question! A single vision lens can be rotated to match the last number for a "prescription" for astigmatism. 0-180 possible positions. You only need a few hundred lenses in the range for each sphere power (first #) and cylinder power (2nd #) and the rest is controlled by you. You cannot "stock" progressive lenses, polarized lenses or old school lined bifocals - since you can't rotate them to match the axis position. A normal shop that edges in house (a good sign) will stock around 1000 to 5000 lenses. John

Hi, What brand of lenses do you usually advice? I know there isn't an absolute answer. In specific I'm thinking of making maybe two pair of glasses: one for pc with blue light protection and one for general purposes. So my questions actually are: - What is in your opinion the best AR coating? I heard DuraVision Platinum from Zeiss and Crizal from Essilor are two of the best. - What could be the best Blue light filter? Even here i hear about Essilor and Zeiss with Prevencia and BlueProtect. I have a hyperopia prescription of +3.50/+3.25 in both eyes. I'm planning of getting these lenses with 1.67 index. Is there any brand that provides with better, thinner, more transparent, clearer, and with best coatings with respect to the others by an chance? I hope I can benefit from your experience and from the professionality i see through your videos. Congratulations on the channel. Thank you

OK, wow, a lot of questions there! The best lenses come from Laramy-K but I doubt that is a choice for you? Sadly even the very best of the best brand name can be made poorly. From your lens powers I think you are on the right track. I like 1.67 for that. If you are going with single-vision (it sound like you are) then yes, go with the brand names you mentioned. In 1.67 they should come as stock so not much room for error and/or coating issues. Go to a well established optician who you trust to get things right. If you are looking at progressives see if you can track down some that are an IOT design. Hope that helps. John

Thank you for the reply. I'm from Italy, so it would be difficult for me to order from Laramy-k. Yes, i'm looking for single vision lenses. From your personal experience, would you say there are some differences between the two mentioned brands (Zeiss and Essilor) or they are comparable in terms of thinness, coatings, clarity, ecc? Thank you again@@LaramyKOptical
