Another great video. Jim I'm in AZ and am switching from a well that fed two bladder pressure tanks to the well feeding a 2500g storage tank and a jet pump which will feed the storage tanks once I get it all re-plumbed. Does a jet pump also need a pump saver?

Sorry, i was out of town for a few days... in Arizona of all places. The jet pump needs some sort of protection. You can use a float switch in the storage tank or a pumpsaver. I prefer a float switch in this case, but a pumpsaver will do the job great.

I understand that this unit has an adjustable feature to delay the RESET/RESTART of the unit. But is there a builtin feature that delays the startup of the pump each time it starts normally (not after a reset, just a regular startup)? This'll be used for sprinklers and I'd like to see a slight delay in the start of the pump to give the valves a few seconds to open first. Curious to know if there is a small delay.

Once the fault occurs, the pumpsaver will shut the pump off. Then the delay clock runs and then the pump restarts. There is no other delay feature. It sounds like you are trying to run a pump without a pressure tank on a pump start relay. If the valve is not open in time, the pumpsaver will fault out on low amperage. You can fix this by adding a small pressure tank to the well system. Probably a small 2-3 gallon surge tank would do the trick.

Yeah, as long as you don’t have any freezing weather. Since I got a pump saver and tank installed, it’s been a nightmare of expenses! It would’ve been cheaper to replace my deep well pump, than replace the pump saver three times - with days/weeks without water, waiting for a new one to be ordered.

If the pump saver goes bad, why don't you just rewire the pump to run without it until your replacement comes in? You don't absolutely have to have a motor protector. Secondly, how is freezing weather ruining the pump saver?

Can you adjust the time allowed for it to run? Then say it kicks back on in 2 hours, runs for 5-7 mins and kicks off again?? What my issue is i have a wel thats not in good rock so after about a 5 min run it turn to chocolate milk and thats getting in my 1000 gal holding tank. But up until it turn in to that milk its crystal clear water..

Unfortunately, no. The pumpsaver detects when the pump runs out of water by how much electricity the pump is using. It has no way of detecting the quality of the water coming out of the pump.

Thank you for sharing this information! Can I assume that this unit will still work in the same way if I have a 3/4 hp pump that runs on 120 volts? (one hot leg, a neutral and a ground)? In all of the wiring diagrams that this company offers I have yet to see one that shows it wired for a setup like mine. They all show 230 volts (2 hot legs). Thanks for any addition info you can share!

No, the standard pumpsaver (model 233) will only work on 230 volt pumps. But, you can get a model 111 that us designed for 110 volt pumps. Great product.

@@jimblair1 : @Bee Cave Drilling : Thank you for your reply. I will get the 111 in the enclosure. I think this will work well for me. By the way, will it work without a pressure switch? For my use I don't think I should need one but I wonder if the unit requires it.
@jimblair12 жыл бұрын
@@PJ-ee5mc the unit does not require a switch of any kind. Power in. Power out. If you do have a switch its best to install between the pumpsaver and the motor. That way the pumpsaver can protect against rapid cycle.

@@jimblair1 : This is a big help. Many thanks! I use this pump as a booster for my residential irrigation system with a pump controller that kicks on the pump with each zone. The problem is that if a zone does not open due to some malfunction the pump will still run (dead head) and cause all sorts if problems with added heat, pressure, etc. , ask me how I know. This unit should help in such a scenario. I hope.
@jimblair12 жыл бұрын
@@PJ-ee5mc just make sure you are not installing on a constant pressure pump. It sounds like you have a pump start relay. It will work fine for that. If the zone doesn’t open, it dead heads the pump. If calibrated properly it will shut the pump off.
