When I saw Bowie and Morrissey on the same stage I wanted to cry of sadness and happiness and then what he said about him afterwards made my want to rip out my hair. I think morrissey is the only man who can play with my emotions in such a short period of time lol

Fair points. I'm not disagreeing with any of that. However, I never said that Moz should take a back seat to Bowie or his ego. All I'm really saying is that it's fine to prefer Morrissey but stupid to insult Bowie because of that, because Morrissey himself at least was a fan and probably to a degree still is.

I totally appreciate what your saying. Morrissey's debt to Bowie is obvious, but I'm not sure if Bowie really is as popular nowadays as he was. They said here that Morrissey sold out more seats than even Michael Jackson or Madonna, both notionally more 'mainstream' (even if they both, in their day, re defined what mainstream was). I think Bowie was one of many spring boards for Morrissey, but he is definitely his own artistically and why should he take a back seat to Bowies ego?

I think maybe what Morrissey meant when he said Bowie is no longer fascinating, is that in 70-71 he was Stardust which was truly amazing and although a lot of his stuff has been brilliant since then, perhaps to Moz he hasn't captured that same magic he had in the Stardust era. If that is what he means, Moz has a point but I think Bowie always has always will be fascinating.

Yes he is allowed to strive to be true to his values and he is under no moral obligation to reveal them. Especially because most people but especially the British music press love to tear him apart and mischaracterize him - Dan.

That's fair enough...personally I think Bowie was much more interesting when he went to Berlin and recorded 'Low', but I'm a bit of a sucker for 80's synth and new wave, so I'm pretty in to 80's Bowie also, even though a lot of stuff he did after the mid 80's I can see, objectively, isn't as artistically important. 90's Bowie...I dunno...I kind of agree with Moz that he was showing the first signs of irrelevance, but I wouldn't backdate this as far as 1971! No way!

Morrissey and bowie, don't have to get on. Not everyone has to like each other. Who's to say that their relationship wasn't just whipped up by the media. The performance was good but why should they love each other and their work? Madness.

not even morrissey is worth judging bowie, but the idea of bowie taking over the stage, as i understood it, was just offending, and morrissey did right to leave the tour i guess!! but lets not forget what an outworldly musician david bowie is,-- what is all that "once he was great but not now"? -- he IS amazing, always was and will be

Morrissey's 1991 tour statistics are incredible in regard to tour merch sales and how fast he sold out certain arenas, but this doc is incorrect when it says Morrissey sold out Madison Square Garden faster than the Beatles bc the Beatles NEVER played the Garden lol

Well his latest album was surprisingly awesome, but that aside your comment is stupid. Bowie has produced a ton of great songs we can listen to whenever, so why on earth should it matter that he went ten years with out an album. By your logic, 50 years from now no one should give a dam about Morrissey

'I like singers who know the world's fucked. I don't like singers who think songs can change it.' Well that about sums up the level of intelligence here. I guess The Beatles, Curtis Mayfield, Sly Stone, etc., must be crap then because they all sung songs about peace, love and harmony.

Its better to listen to his records. So nobody says anything interesting in 5 years. Did Nancy Sinatra say anything interesting & would Morrisey really associate with her if she was not famous? I thought Morrisey was a legend but he is a just too pompous. As for his comments on Bowie, he is not the only one whose best days are behind him.
