I absolutely LOVE your vision of creativity and worship! Definitely, agree with your emphasis on creating for God (and not so much for those who may or may not listen). Keep it up Jon!

Profound. Indeed, creativity is a critical element that's missing in most of our church's worship.

Powerful! I like it very much! Yes, praise and worship is much more than we know! It is worth exploring creativity in God! God is so creative and so do we!

This is definitely one of the best posts ever. I absolutely believe changes in worship and changing the songs to be made for our Father only is awesome. Where, we don't have to create music to have massive appeal, but to love God through our music. It's obvious why people love the music and connect with it. People are hungry for the real heart of God. They don't want cookie cutter stuff as much anymore. They want to connect directly with His heart. So good.

What an amazing message! I personally believe that using our creativity is the best way to reflect God's greatness. 🔥

YES! "Why is worship music it's own genre?" Also loving how you point out that worship music (art) is for God first, not people.

Wooowww, this is so encouraging!!! Thank you!! I'm an artist and musician, and I've just always felt like my life was supposed to be different, deviating from "the norm". My art and music reflect that, and it's hard not to feel like I don't belong or like people will never hear my music. So it's just really cool to hear that God is putting this in other people's hearts, and calling people to step out and be bold. You reminded me of who I'm called to be and what I'm called to do, and to not be afraid of what others think. Thank you!

Yes yes yes! Thank you so much for this creative encouragement! We are all unique and can express our worship to God in different ways and it's important to use those creative gifts he's given us for his glory! I feel motivated and inspired to get creative! Also, I really enjoy the GCM blog and your Indie Worship Spotify playlist for discovering new worship music! Great for sharing too (everyone I've shared it with doesn't seem to know many/any of the worship artists). Thanks for taking the time to put it together/update it! :)

This is so similar to how I came to writing music and leading worship. I was a heavy metal guitarist and fan. At IHOPKC's Awakening Teens Camp, God changed my life and I began writing music and simultaneously found out about Rivers & Robots and Jonathan Ogden. Such an inspiration

Wow, thank you for this!! I’ve really been trying to condition myself to write more congregational songs (for church/during the worship set) but this video has been an encouragement to be real with the sound/songs that naturally flow out. Like it’s okay to not be congregational, the spirit can move in the vibey, weird, folky tones too!

Don't know if anyone cares, but I used to listen to metal as well, before I rediscovered the Lord. I used to listen to some really heavy stuff. But when I rediscovered the Lord, I thought that that might not be a good idea, so I started to listen to folk, blues, jazz, indie, indierock, funk and many, many other genres. I sometimes return to some prog instrumental metal though, but the positive sounding ones. :)

This has got to be my favorite video from you guys yet! Ever since I found you guys on youtube, I've been finding more and more christian creatives in Philly and it's really opened my eyes to how diverse worship can be. I mean words cannot express how grateful I am for the worship music i have just recently discovered in Rivers and Robots. I completely agree that christian artist should think out of the box and get away from cookie cutter sounds. I for one seem to lose Interest with music that's too "common". I wish this wasn't so..it should be all about the lyrics..but im designed different. I like change. Rivers and Robots is one of the few. and at the very top actually that I can listen to All day long.🎶.for many reasons but the less obvious reason is that the songs like the lyrics and Melodys are so... honest some how ..just like a prayers to our Heavenly Father. I love to hear public praying that's just not trying to speak "Christianeeze "and is not about impressing anyone but God. It's evident when you hear that type of prayer. I pray for more like Rivers and Robots to arrive on scene. It's true we as Christians should lead in creativity as our own Dad is The Master Creator! 🌌☝

You're musician and music is your art. But please don't limit creative worship to that. Worship is something that can be part of all parts of life, all forms our love for Christ can take. I believe our Christian communities are too often just hopelessly boring, not creative at all.
@MagnifyStudio7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, we're passionate about seeing all forms of art being used as worship too. That's a big part of what our channel is about :)

I just dont understand why some people hate a more exuberant worship, why does it have to be boring, variety is best, funeral like, mondane, monotone, countryish uggggg

You don't see it in the church because that's not the goal of worship music in the church and it shouldn't be.
