Hi Eric. Thank you for this very informative technique tip. I am a beginning violin student (at 65 years young) and have a question regarding finger placement in general. One issue I’m having is my fingers inadvertently touching/muting neighbor strings. For example, while playing a note on the “A” string and then next 0:02 playing a note on the “E” string (either open or fingered), my fingers in the “A” string are slightly muting the “E” string causing an awful sound. Same would happen on the “D” string. I’ve tried to work around this issue by slightly shifting the “A” string over to the left when needing to play the “E” string or just lifting my fingers off the string altogether. I’m trying to keep my fingers down on the string as I’ve been taught that this is better technique (as opposed to lifting them off the string. I am playing in my “fingertips” and not on the flat part of the finger so I know this isn’t the issue. Also, my fingers are not that large so that should be a factor either. I would greatly appreciate your thoughts on this? Thanks SO much. Mark 🎻😊

Thank you so much for your instructive videos. When I try to place the left part of the finger on the string, I always end up "touching" the string to the right with the rest of the finger which is not ideal when I want to play an empty E string with still the fingers placed on the A string. I am struggling a lot with this (but as I am a beginner, I'm struggling with almost everything as we can expect...) Any advice on how to avoid touching the string to the right? Thank you!

That’s an excellent question. I asked my teacher the same thing. He says it is okay to touch the D string to get away from the E string, as long as you aren’t switching to the D string immediately. That’s solved it for me. I hope it works for you.

Hii ,I really find this video helpful but there's a problem arise with this when i do this the other strings are blocked by my little skin of the finger So what can i do about this issue?

When you were playing the A string it looked like your finger were also touching the E string. I'm not sure if it was but if so does it matter? Thank you.
