I'm in ny and I've notice on beans that first week of october they seem to still be on that pattern I can usually take a few cracks at some bucks I know where here or there doing whatever . People talk about the beans turning brown on beans then the bucks leave that's not always true. I've almost sealed the deal on opening day several times

The neat thing is Dan excited about seeing world class bucks even though he never got some of them, just enjoyed the possibility of getting a 200 class buck

I love the woods and being in the woods with all my soul, but nothing on earth can get me in the woods June to August. Screw the bugs, heat, ticks, and humidity

Sitka gear has some new turkey hunting clothing....it's the shit...I don't use bug spray or permithrium anymore since it got that clothing...I'm a tick and chigger magnet...this is light and cool...it's expensive but well worth it

I’m fine when it comes to bugs heat and humidity, but ticks are where I draw the line.. one time of getting in a nest and having a couple hundred on me was enough, I’ll wait til October

No doubt it absolutely sucks 💯, but I work outside all summer in the woods dealing with mosquitoes, ticks, humidity, and bugs. I would rather scout in it than go to work 🤣.

I have without a doubt found 80 percent of the bucks I have harvested in the last few years in July. Ranging from 150 to 170. July has become my sweet summer time month without a doubt

In my experience mature bucks in the summer are there for the food, like soybeans then gone once velvet comes off. If you have the right set up you can hold those bucks into season. It’s exciting to see matures eating those high protein beans and another way to learn their habits.

I have seen and experience the same thing in my past, it’s like they become a different animal, also read they have summer homes and places where they get ready for the upcoming season, just gotta keep scouting in search on their whereabouts.

In my experience their range changes during the season but occasionally I’ll see some of the summer bucks come back into the rut

All the different game laws are a hoot ,, here where I live it is legal to bait with any natural food like corn or sweet feed or apples but illegal to bait with processed foods like bread or cookies ,,also here it is very illegal to shine a light in search of deer at any time,,then in the eastern half of NC it is legal to shine before eleven pm.

Youth deer day on the Saturday before the hunt starts, archery for deer, during the week of the moose hunt and Maine residents rifle hunting the last day of the moose season sounds like it could be pretty productive if luck is on our side, I will have to check but it might even be turkey season as well during the trip not to mention partridge and woodcock season will be open.

Dan and Josh do you think a bed you find in late winter and early spring will be occupied by the same buck from year to year or atleast be taken over by another mature buck?

Dan question my predominant wind is a south wind here in Indiana so when out spring scoutin or fall huntin should I check out or be concerned with points and or hillsides that face east & west or should I concentrate on north face slopes & hills any input or advice is greatly appreciated!! Is an oxbow the marshland inside the curve of a river or stream?
@thehuntingbeast
@thehuntingbeast 2 жыл бұрын
Im working on an Oxbow video... Oxbows are like islands in rivers that are connected to the dry land. It dont have to be marsh. Deer bed in them and monitor the one way danger comes at them, the dry access.
