Earnie's dedication and modesty resurrected forgotten memories from 60 years ago when I felt the pursuit of precision with a 52c WInchester + scope. My challenge was the "moving bullet holes" in the white area of a standard NRA target at 50-yards; it said "flies." The radial symmetry of liquid spray around a bullet hole marked a dead center hit. The 52c was an amazingly accurate rifle -- even if it was just a .22. Re Guinness -- Great Britain and their dominions have some great marksmen, but how would you feel knowing a retired police officer could do just as well with a standard issue military rifle from 70 years ago using standard issue iron sights while you have the very best available equipment. Ernie's unselfish modesty may help preserve the self-esteem of GB's best long distance shooters. USMC - Carlos Hathcock made a first shot kill at similar range with a Winchester 70 and scope under different circumstances. Earnie clearly shows how much a person matters whether in pursuit as top rifle marksman -- or top gun aviator. It's amazing what dedication can do. -- Look up Ad Toperwein and Tom Frye; exhibition shooters for Winchester and Remington, respectively.

At 2:09, is his front scope mount only half on the rail? That can't be good, right?

If you look closely, the rail is extended beyond it's base section and the front ring is fully supported.

You have obviously never been shooting. There are people that cant hit 100 yards after a day at the range. If you think an average joe could just get lucky and hit a mile out, you are either a troll or slow. Most people using high power scopes can't do it on their best day, let alone iron sights...

Who man, areyou serious? Lol. At that range you can barely see the target. The average person couldn't hit it if given 10,000 shots, and its no exaggeration. We are talking iron sights. His forward sight pole completely covers the target at that range. There are only a small group of people who can hit over a mile with scopes.
@ptownrat38115 жыл бұрын
That's right. barely or cannot even see the target, it's total BS, shoot and have someone call out the shots and adjust. Give anyone a scope, and anyone can hit a target a mile away given enough rounds, this is 100% bullllllshit.
