I distinctly recall seeing these guys on the side stage at Edgefest 97 or 98 in Barrie with Dave Grohl watching from the side absolutely digging them.

It would have been '98. Dave was a fan of the band and actually invited them to go out on tour with the foo's, which the band declined as they were breaking up.

they actually meant to double track some bass parts using a distortion pedal for the noisier sections but ran out of time in studio so the producer of this record actually ran the original (more clean sounding) bass track through a reel to reel tape machine to layer on top as and that's what gives it that awesome sort of cheap sounding distortion
