Even though Charge spell, technically works as rush, it still counts as charge, so, like in Mark combo in the link, he used a charge on a minion, Maieved it for 2 turns, and it could attack face 2 turns after, when the dormant effect was over. With the war glaves and fool's bane: fool's bane's effect stops after the weapon breaks, war glaves does not. So if you give your hero attack separate from war glaves, so if you break war glaves on a minion you can go face, or hit a minion, with that extra attack that you put on your hero.

yes, i played vs a DH that did exactly this and that's utter BS. Being able to attack again is an effect from the glaives, once they break you shouldn't be able to attack again that turn since you're no longer benefiting from the effect on warglaives... the game should know you already attacked for the turn and aren't under any special effects that allow you to attack more than once in a turn and your hero should no longer be able to attack.

I think the difference is that Echo is a keyword that belongs to the witchwood expansion, similar to some cards that say if you attack and kill the minion instead of overkill (okey, for overkill you specifically have to deal more damage, but look at „combustion“ for example)

@@gabrielc8399 it actually doesn't. Warsong commander gives +1 attack to *charge minions* , not *minions with charge* . The word "charge" has to be in the minions card text. So yes, the card is *even more* useless then you thought.

Something I found out yesterday that was causing me to get stuck on a boom labs puzzle. The immune keyword reads "prevents all damage" or something to that extent, but gives no sign of the fact that it actually makes it completely untargeteable to the enemy, but still targeteable to you

Solem there is some inconsistency in your list: -Fencing Coach and Tour Guide have two different effects tho, since (2) less is not always (0). -Also Witch's Brew can cost (0) while Echo cards don't. Well, not anymore, so it was inconsistent even before the nerf to the Echo mechanic. -Fool's Bane and Warglaives of Azzinoth also work differently if you go face when Major Noggenfrogger is on the board. that's not an inconsistency. Rod of Roasting is a treasure in a single player mode so if it had "player" instead of hero games would always end in a tie because youre fighting cpus. However, since Yogg-Soran is in standard it makes sense to have when a "player" dies instead. Especially if there is any future interactions with heros having deathrattles etc.

The difference between echo and repeatable this turn is if you have for example 2 sorcerers apprentices, you can only reduce the echo cards to 1 mana but repeatable this turn cards can be reduced to 0. This change was implemented to counter snip snap combos

I think the "while you're holding a dragon" is correct. It is a constant effect, unlike I expect all other the "if you're holding a dragon" cards. In a battlecry or deathrattle, the condition is only checked the moment it triggers. You can't check "If ... this costs X less" in the moment, because then you wouldn't be able to know if you have the mana for it.

9:05 actually those are different effects. If you attack with a weapon then equip fool's bane, you'll be able to attack again, while the warglaives say you must attack an enemy minion with it to attack again. Just doing some friendly corretcing here :)

@@EduardoDalmas Old card text of Yu-Gi-Oh carda are literally nightmare fuel. There was not structure in the textbox or the game terms. For instance, the term "banish" is called removed from play in the old text becuade back then when cards are removed from play, they were actually REMOVED. But when they started adding cards that interact "removed from play cards" the wording of the text got even more complicated, so they used PST to change all old cards that writes "remove from play" to banish. Another example is that some card texts were so long that they had to cut some of the text to fit the textbox. Also the terms "when " and "if" were too complicated to understand back then, since effect ordering etc. was polluted with unnecessesary words like "sacrifice" "choose" "excavate" They were not present in the new text since they were omitted with PST.

@@EduardoDalmas It adds a clear format for how cards should be written and what terminology should be used. Card text goes like: Condition needed to play the card: Cost; Effect. How many times you can use the effect. And a lot of cards have effects that say things like "this card cannot be targeted." But old cards would say "select" "target" "choose" and a lot of them of them meant target. Now that is corrected so if a card targets it now says "target." Example effect: If your opponent activated a spell card: You can discard 1 card and target 1 monster the opponent controls; destroy it. You can only use this effect once per turn. Historically it would be: If your opponent activates a spell you can discard 1 card to destroy a monster the opponent controls. If I were to negate the old version of that effect the opponent wouldn't have to discard and Konami probably wanted the card to target. With the new text if I negate the effect my opponent still has to discard a card or they couldn't even activate it if I didn't have a targetable monster.

The daily quest for destroying minions should say "x amount of enemy minions have to die". Because you don't have to destroy them and killing your own minions doesn't count. Even if you use a spell that says "destroy a minion" or "destroy all minions".

On a related note, it took me 5 years to find out its possible to buy more than 1 pack at a time with in game currency by double clicking/tapping on the "1 Pack / 100 Coin" button in the shop, and it will then give you a pop up asking how many you want to buy, up to 50.

There are a whole bunch of cost related things you missed. For example cards that add a 1/1 that costs 1 to your hand / transform it (Shadowdancer, Potion of Illusion, Hypemon, Anka) have different interactions with stuff like Magic Carpet, Hobgoblin and Evolve effects, some of which are absolute bullshit. For example, if you copy a minion with Potion of Illusion, play it and then Conjurers Calling it will create two 1-drops, which is ridiculous as enchantments on cards on the *board* NEVER affect the cost of the card.

Would be nice if they did a templating pass over all the cards to make them more consistent, but unfortunately I think there's a lack of incentive to do so, because the Hearthstone client automatically resolves effects. So even if a card is worded unclearly, their excuse is that once a player plays the card, they understand how it works. Which is frustrating, but the most likely outcome. A lot of the cards are worded in a flavorful way rather than an unambiguous way because Blizzard relies on the digital client's automatic rules resolution instead. Compare to a game like Magic with very strict templating, because they need the entire playerbase to interpret cards in the exact same way so they rely on more mechanical language.

Yes Warglaive's effect triggered (and "lingered" after you attack and kill a minion, independent from the weapon, while the unlimited attack from fool's bane is tied to the weapon, you can only have unlimited attack as long as the weapon equipped.

Also, that can be described with "while damaged," which is totally fine. I find it much harder to justify Poisonous before it was a keyword or "Can't be targeted by spells or hero powers" as card text on a tiny space.

re: Lyra and Sethekk "After" and "Whenever" are different because for "After" to trigger the spell needs to be resolved first, whereas "Whenever" occurs before the spell is resolved. The distinction is important because you can't, for example, kill your Sethekk (with SW Pain etc) to get the spell, while you can do that with Lyra*. And I completely agree that the generated uncollectible cards should be shown in the library. *Unless the text on Lyra is wrong and I just never noticed.

For the recruit/summon from your deck thing, the reason behind is that recruit is an extension excusive keyword. The same is true for inspire/after you used your hero power (in the hunter cards of DoD) (and also because inspire cards sucks)

Recruiting minions only make sense in an expansion about going in a dungeon. The old gold Y'shaarj doesn't exactly *recruit* minions, so it's not correct flavor wise. Same goes for Inspire, where you don't "inspire" a mechanical ballista Dragonbane or the Phase Stalker raptors. Also for Echo, where A witch's brew isn't haunting you with echoes of their existence.

1:52 changing this to "Give a friendly minion Rush." will actually change how this card works with some other cards. Woodcutter's Axe for example. 3:44 because they're still cost 1 mana. Their "primal" cost does not changes. Geist destroys spells with primal 1 mana cost, while Phaoris checks their current cost. 4:00 because it won't fit in some cards. Just like "Inspire". How can you inspire...Ballista? 4:42 because you will have 10 out of 9 mana, not 10 out of 10. 9:52 It doesn't make any sense to a pirate to have "take control of ...", just like "steal ..." to a Mind Control.

1) Yes, that is true. Also when you copy the minion next turn it can go face immediately or when you steal it with MC. 2) What you're saying is not said on the card, that's the reason it's in the video. They are written in one way yet they do different thing. 3) That's why "inspire" was printed only on cards with living things in the GT expansion. This is not the reason of recruit thing. The reason is that "Recruit" keyword is exclusive to K&C so it's not printed on any card outside of the expansion. Same goes with many keywords (inspire, echo, corrupt) that's why some cards have echo and some are repeatable. 4) Again, that's not what the card says tho, it requires you to have 10 mana, not 10/10 mana. 5) That's true, it's one of those flavour words. The pirate should have been included between those cards.

one that i'm surprised you didn't mention, especially since you have pointed it out before, is the inconsistency between cleric of scales and shadow visions/stitched tracker. In the case of visions and tracker, the card you discover is a unique card that is created for your hand, letting you duplicate spells/minions, meanwhile cleric of the scales ALSO says discover a (x) in your deck, but fails to mention the fact you will draw the card you discover. all they would need to do is add "draw the card" and it would make sense. Not really a new thing but if you use janalai to summon Rag, it will have the RKR set symbol but have the efffect of Rag. Another card that doesn't explain what it does in the text box is bogqueen hagatha, since it only says that you get the elemental, not even coming CLOSE to explaining what the heck that means. There's also the fact that, as far as I recall, you can't see the prime version of the prime legends when you hover over them in a match, which is weird since the whole reason people want to play them IS the prime form.

Shadow visions says “discover a copy of a spell in you deck”, cleric says “discover a spell in your deck”. It’s the same wording as master’s call as well, it’s not ambiguous as to what it does as you literally see the card(s) come out of your deck in both circumstances, whereas shadow visions it comes from the discover overlay.

Also when a prime legend dies it’s death rattle effect shows up in the history bar and you can hover over that to see the prime version that got shuffled in.

Once you play the cards more than once you know what the primes are/what hagatha does, it is just that not showing these things outside of the game feels.... weird. Also shadow visions was printed well before acolyte was, which sets the president. Again, a few more words would fix the ambiguity

What annoys me the most is that some cards read "draw x" while others read "draw x from your deck". It's the exact same effect, and currently there aren't any cards that would draw from your opponent's deck, so there is literally no reason to specify that you get the card from your deck

There's also the incerdibly wierd inconsistency with "controller" and "owner" in HS. Where some bounce effects say that the card goes back to the owners hand (like Deam "Return a minion to its owner's hand. ") but if you use dream on a Mind Controlled ("Take control of an enemy minion.") minion it goes to the controllers hand and not the owner. I've lost a game to this since I was used to MTG and how they correctly use owner and controller...

Someone may have already said, but the *big* difference between "echo" and "repeatable this turn" is echo was nerfed recently'ish to not be discount-able below 1 to prevent turns that are only upper bounded by the timer, whereas "repeatable" does *not* have this stipulation. Meaning Unstable Evolution (one of the main problem cards when it cost 0) isn't fixed by a change ostensibly made to fix frustrations like that.

The difference between time out and blur is, if blur was somehow cast on your opponent's turn, you SHOULD still be able to target them with "Ice Lance" and other freeze effects. Time out prevents any targeting of the face

I agree with most of the changes but here are some mistakes. Charge doesn’t give a minion rush, if you give a minion already in play rush you can attack the hero. Witch’s brew shouldn’t say echo cause it is a witchwood mechanic and is bad to have that effect in a keyword when only one card of the expansion has it. If you coin an omega card when it enters the battlefield you won’t have 10 mana therefore it shouldn’t trigger. If Warglaives of Azzinoth had “unlimited attacks each turn” you wouldn’t be able to attack after the weapon is destroyed, the effect is accurate to what it does.

Charge TECHNICALLY does grant charge but it only acts like it in a specific circumstance. If you cast it on a card and that card then goes dormant then it will have charge coming out of dormant which is pretty rare but can still happen!

there are more inconsistencies, such as the cards from the Druid base set that talk about transformation when in reality they only gain stats and can be silenced, unlike cards that are actually transformed with Hex for example and that if they silence they do not return to be the original minion. Blizzard always does things like that, they talk that they are afraid that new players will get confused, that's why they don't put old keywords, but they keep printing confusing letters themselves.

Echo and "repeatable this turn" are different. And not only for the programists, but also for the players, as the Echo mechanic was nerfed and now the Echoed (the temporary cards given by the Echo effect) cards' cost can't be reduced below 1. Also the "steal" in the mentioned minion might be a "style point" card as it is a Pirate, so it STEALS instead of just TAKING CONTROL.

The echo thing is because the keywords belong to the witchwood extension and the devs dont want to overwhelm new players with a bunch of keywords constantly in the rotation, that's why any new card with the "repeatable this turn" effect wont have the keyword

I'd have to do some testing to verify, but Time Out and Blur may have some differences in how Re-targeting effects (such as Mayor Hoggenfogger) work. Time Out should prevent you from being targeted, while Blur may still allow you to be targeted and then just take 0 damage. I think they go with Immune for Time Out mostly because it carried forward into your next turn.

I actually know the story behind Witch's Brew not saying 'Echo'. They argued that they want specific keywords to only occur in one expansion. So Witch's Brew has basically Echo, but it is not a card from Witchwood. If they ever print a new card with 'Inspire' for example, the wording would be different too.

The reason most of this stuff is incorrect is due to Blizzards patented lack of care for their user base and good old fashioned greed. They won’t fix old cards or mechanics because that costs money for something they can’t monetise. Classic Blizzard greed.

For Tour Guide and Fencing Coach, it does not mean the same thing because I think that with the effect of Blowtorch Saboteur who makes your opponent hero power cost 3, Tour Guide will still reduce to 0 the cost of your hero power while Fencing Coach will only reduce it by 2 mana wich means it will cost 1 mana for any class that isn't Demon Hunter

Also with Steamwheedle Sniper and Dwarven Sharpshooter: going by their wording they should be able to work with the Demon Hunter's Hero Power (minions can gain +1 ATK, unlike say the Druid's Hero Power which also gives armor which minions can't so it invalidates minions as a target), yet they don't.

Technically "Charge" works slightly differently from rush. You can enchant a creature with Charge, and then make it go dormant, and then the turn it comes back you can attack face with it. I've seen this be used in an OTK combo. Interesting mechanic.

I agree with like, 40%of those. The others are more of an artistic choice, or sometimes actually different effect that require different wording. I’m ok with a little flavor finding itself in to the front card text, and I’m really cool with happy surprises like the imps from sense demons. The mistake that bugs me the most by far is that Zephrys ignores immunity and gives redundant choices. Enemy on low HP with Mal'Ganis in play - you get 3 cheap damage spells, no removal. Enemy on low HP with a Secret in play - you get 3 cheap damage spells, no secret removal. Enemy on low HP with an active Evasion or Ice Block making them immune - you get 3 cheap damage spells instead of board presence or an explosive trap which would actually be the best pick here.

I'm pretty sure the "Steal" on stickyfinger is a style choice since it's a pirate, and that's what it's name eludes to. and immune is technically a stronger mechanic that can't take damage but it's serious edge cases... namely random targeting possibly not rendering immune targets as viable.

I suppose the slight inconsistancies are added to check which card it belongs to during developpement. also the tour guide vs instructor has a difference if your hero power is sabotaged by +3, you then either pay 0 or 3.

Echo is a keyword exclusive to The Witchwood and won't be used again for any other expansions. The mechanic may appear again but in isolated cases and won't have the keyword. This is to prevent newer players from having to learn all the old keywords for just maybe 1 or 2 cards that may use it in standard at a given time. It's just like Inspire, for all intents and purposes Phase Stalker and Dragonbane work exactly like Inspire, but the Hearthstone team won't make newer players learn that keyword just for those 2 cards. Whenever they want to use those mechanics in the future, they'll just spell them out, and keywords like Echo or Inspire will remain exclusive to their respective expansions.
