These historical old houses were built in the late 1800’s in a small rural old town. Not far from the coastline. Sometime around the mid 1960’s the houses were converted into apartments and then as the town’s population dwindled over the years slowly all the apartments eventually went vacant. Mostly just a few stray cats living there now. Sadly there future is a bit uncertain but glad I could document the beautiful old historic architecture. Still had some pretty details inside like the wainscoting and hand carved newel posts. Really neat old places! Thank you for watching! Like and leave a comment if you enjoyed! Thank you!

I could cry for the sad beauty of these houses. I just imagine them in the 20’s or 30’s, a Sunday morning, Momma making breakfast, Daddy reading the paper in the parlor, kids getting ready for church…curtains blowing gently in the windows. Nicely kept lawns, hearing good mornings from neighbors, just poignant and sad to see these beauties decaying. Thanks for showing us Kappy.

Always enhances my day when I can view an Exploring with Kappy old house ! The woodwork, fireplace and staricase are still lovely. Always feel such bittersweet longing for a time of long ago when life was more innocent and people valued a family homestead. My best to you, Kappy, and all who come upon my greetings this Saturday morning !

The hope and dream of building a home, watching it grow from infancy to maturity, and the pride of the first night's stay, is unforgettable. It becomes a living being with birthdays, holidays, and eventually becoming part of the family. Memories are temporal, and beauty fades, but the skeletons of forgotten wooden ladies are a reminder of hopes and dreams. Each journey is an exploration of time, and time lost.

Two very cool places. I'm glad you added some basic information on the house (s). 1880, the year my grandfather was born. Both houses were great but I'm glad the second house didn't appear to be made into separate apartments. I just love the architecture. The fireplaces, the trim. I definitely don't like the tiled ceilings that they started doing in the 1960's and though in one room they were taken down, sadly it doesn't matter anymore. Those tiles (I think we're made of asbestos) would stain quickly especially with smokers in the house. I got a big kick outta the carpeted kitchen. My mom, back in 68 insisted on carpet for the kitchen. Ugh! She said she was tired of mopping the floors all the time because of all the high traffic. She learned though that mopping was replaced by shampooing the carpet, lol. Great explore Kappy! As always I truly appreciate your adventures. 🤠👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

The first house could be reclaimed but it's a shame about the second one. The woodwork and windows in both were so beautiful. I wonder if being so close to the noisy and busy railroad tracks had something to do with them being abandoned. Hope all is going well with you, Kappy. Stay safe out there!

Loved the exterior of this place. First half of the video I'm dreaming of all the cleaning and painting it would take. Then, the massive ceiling failure made me remember that dreams are, just that. Yikes, so sad there are so many great features to that place but I think rehabbing it is too massive a project for most people. It must have been amazing at one time. Thanks, Kappy

Cool houses. Interesting to see the next door house to have an idea what the first one originally looked like. Many years ago we lived in a house with wall-to-wall carpeting, including the kitchen! Naturally, we ensured it was deep cleaned before we bought it. All was well and good until a couple years later when the dishwasher broke down and flooded the kitchen - carpet and all! Yeuch!!

A couple remnants of America's past, and each bearing examples of different ambitions and ideas. Methinks the remodel done on the second one might have compromised the structural integrity, but it certainly kept the sense of the building's grandeur intact which was so well hidden by the apartment remodel job done on the first house. That first building was a veritable maze, with so many doors leading outside and an interior room had a wall made of exterior siding: admittedly creative! You captured some stately, ornamental fireplace mantels! Lovely molding, hall paneling and woodworking. The intricacies of that decorative exterior are a lost art. Today, we build 'em clean so's to make upkeep less, but we're starved of the beauty. Weather-beaten, overgrown, paint peeling, busted windows and exterior molding in disrepair, these neighbors on an old town street are still a sight to behold and vestiges of good living in the past. And you captured them on video beautifully, Kappy! TY so much! A Lovely tour and visit to the past.

It's a shame that they are just sitting there wasting away. But you are right, it would cost so much to change them back into houses or restore them as apartments.
