Yeah! That scene got right the whole concept of "the angrier Hulk gets, the stronger he is." When the Hulk saw he was about to lose Betty, Hulk got so mad he started to pressure and surpass Abomination.

Two comic-lore explanations: 1) The "Thunder Clap" (so-called for the sound that accompanies it) generates large gusts of air due to the Hulk's extreme musculature, which grants him superhuman strength and speed. Both the speed of his arms and the power they generate while moving cause these gusts, which, while onmi-directional, can be "aimed" in the direction the Hulk is facing. Hulk often uses it to remove opponents from his path non-lethally, but it can be used to remove debris or gas/fire, which is reliant on air. 2) Bruce was abused by his father as a boy and harbored a lot of anger for not being physically capable of stopping it. Hulk is a physiological manifestation of Banner's childhood anger, and so thinks and acts like a child. In most of the Hulk's forms (the green monster being the most common), Banner has no control over the Hulk, and is only able to "aim" the Hulk at a target prior to transformation. Hulk listened to Betty because he recongizes that she is a friend and that his other half has feelings for her, not because Banner reasserted control. He would have killed Abomination believing, like a child, that the only way to stop him was to hurt him until he stops hurting you back.

People really fail to realize that the reason why Betty told Hulk to stop because she didn't want Hulk/Bruce to become a murderer. Hulk/Bruce is a good guy and he's got a good heart,but at that point Hulk had had enough of Abomination's Bs and Hulk wanted to end it,but due to his love for betty he stopped himself from ripping Abomination's head off. Hulk is a guy who holds back when he fights guys who are almost as strong as himself and in some cases stronger at first, the last thing you want to do is give him a reason to really hurt you. If you give Hulk/Bruce a reason to actually FIGHT it's over.

He also blew up that helicopter before the pilots could evacuate. They all died so it’s a little too late to be stopping him from killing.

@@chandlermorgan708 Hulk has killed quite a few soldiers by this point. Abomination was terrorizing Harlem and likely killed many civilians who were helpless and terrified. Hulk is already a killer and should've added Abomination to his list.
