Think of an NFL player reaching the 100 (or maybe the 150) Touchdown mark or a Major League Baseball player reaching the 600 Home Run or 3,000 hit mark (a la Miguel Cabrera earlier this year).

It’s sort of similar to college football how they storm the field after a win, however in AFL we storm the field after the very rare event where a player reaches 1000 career goals or kicks 100 goals in a season. Buddy has done both so he’s no stranger to pitch invasions. Amazing moment for our beautiful game ❤

I was there at the front row and behind the goals that Buddy kicked towards. It was a really special moment for everyone. I won’t go too much into depth about how big Buddy Franklin is in the AFL world but it was a moment that everyone could enjoy and celebrate. There was someone who was on a holiday from Columbia behind us watching their first ever AFL game and they had a blast just getting amongst the atmosphere. It was truly a beautiful moment in Australian sports

The best part is, no one got hurt and all people wanted was to be on the ground when this historic event happened and to touch Buddy if they could. Eventually the crowd dispersed and the game managed to finish an hour after normal schedule. I wonder what would of happened if this was a football match somewhere else. Riots anyone?
