Because 0.2 points per game is negligible. Shai has more steals, better EPM, better offensive BPM, better defensive BPM, better record, better offensive rating, defensive rating, on less usage % (pretty much better on almost every advanced metric that is more nuanced than the first 3 numbers on the box score) and also didn't get his coach sacked.

Sabonis all just broke the double double streak record at 54 and is still going.

I honestly see Shai winning it, because I mean he’s really the only one with a bulletproof argument for why not give him MVP. Nobody really seems to be paying any serious attention to Luka even tho stats wise he should be everyone’s MVP. Jayson Tatum is great but he’s just the best player on the best team and just not a MVP type player to most. And people just seem a lil tired of Giannis and Jokic and don’t really wanna give them another MVP. So again with those factors in play, why not Shai for MVP?
@spliffsforbreakfast6 ай бұрын
Me and my homie were always looking for sneaky college picks and we 100% knew Shai was tough at Kentucky. Just a smooth, poised, big pg coming from a legacy of star guards under Callipari. We didn’t see “MVP” but we’ve been day 1 fans for sure. And no one blames the Clippers for trading him. No one knew he would be THIS good.

I think Shai should win MVP, but I think it's going to be close. I know since Joel Embiid went out indefinitely, Jokic is the media front runner and I know Luka Doncic has been putting up MVP stats basically since he was drafted. But since the Mavericks are the current 8th seed, I don't think Luka has an actual shot at it other than sympathy votes. Since the Thunder have been good all season and Shai has been so consistent with the stats and considering the huge turnaround that the organization has been through in just two years, I hope Shai really does get MVP.

SGA should not win MVP. I'm sorry, but he shouldn't. Jokic is basically averaging a triple double, again. He's been able to will the Nuggets into to contention multiple years and has only needed help from his team to win it all. He got robbed last year because none of these journalists wanted to give him a threepeat MVP accolade, even though he absolutely deserved it. The Nuggets are competing for the top spot in the West. Oh, and then there's Luka who is ALSO basically averaging a triple double, putting up 34 pts vs SGA's 30. There's no argument that SGA deserves the MVP over both of those guys. There's just not. If you want to focus on the stats, Luka's got him soundly beat there. If you want to focus on winning, Jokic is the quintessential example of a player contributing to winning first and his own numbers second.
