I see both sides of the argument: Bob brings up a good point about being special, but it blinded partially by nostalgia; Helen has reason to be concerned about heroes being criminalized and being seen as freaks, but is unintentionally making her kids stifle/despise part of who they are from birth (which plays into part 2).

What a complete overreaction towards Bob's behavior, It's obvious the man is depressed. He's stuck in the past when he meant something to everyone, when he was relied on, when was a hero. He has a family now yes, but when someone is depressed they can't see the forest for the trees, all they see is the thing that makes them depressed, EVERYWHERE. And of course he will bottle up his true feelings inside because isn't that what society has taught men to do? No crying, No complaining, No emotions. Just make money, be a father, and provide for everyone without a anyone caring how HE'S feeling. This is one of the best family movies ever made and that fact you can't see a man obviously depressed and in need of help but desperately trying to make it work and would rather just be like "I hate him!" truly shows more about your character than anything.
@SilverWolf4424 ай бұрын
Agreed. As someone who struggled wirh depression, you are 100% on point. And during the montage, she misses the whole point - saying he's a good fanily man when he's lying. No. He's a good family man because he didn't have the detestable job with the toxic boss & is doing something that is making him HAPPY and giving him purpose. He has a reason to get back in shape, get out of bed, and see the beauty & great in the little things his depression prevented before. The judgement attitude & holier than thou reaction made this a tough listen.
@maverickpwnage85344 ай бұрын
@@SilverWolf442 I feel you, depression is no joke and it's not taking seriously enough by the people who haven't gone through it like you and I, one of my favorite talks on depression is from another KZbin channel called Game Grumps. In one of their playthroughs Dan the co-host of the show talks about his experience with depression and it was scarily accurate to how I felt in those times. He talked about how our brains just constantly associate everything we want to do with the thing we are depressed about. Such a good listen and one of the things that helped me out of my depression.

25:02 I just love how Pixar teaches kids things under the guise of humor and a terrific story. Like, children playing with capes in imitation of superheroes isn't safe. So they invent this hilarious exchange to cement in kids' minds that they shouldn't be playing with capes. Another example (of many): Monsters Inc presented a whole storyline which has a side benefit of teaching kids to laugh at monsters under their beds instead of fearing them, that the monsters are actually scared of them. And that benefits the monsters too, don't you know, by giving them ten times more energy for their monster city. Great reaction here, very fun, and thanks for posting.

When prompted a question about something that upset he said he was going to get another plate of food and left the situation. He didnt say anything harmful, mean, or inflammatory, nor physically touch anyone in any way. If someone isnt allowed to be upset even if they handle it in an acceptable manner because someone is saying theyre taking it out on others, that insensitive. Arguably toxic for some.

We don't do that in Europe, it's a very American thing. At the same time, if it happens, as a father you should be there for your son. Please can we get Edna's backstory movie? Pleeeeeeeaase? Here's how I'd pitch it: No rags to riches story. We've got enough of those, and we all know goddamn well Edna Mode is too fabulous to have come from nothing. Born into the high life fashion world, the thing that makes her different is a desire to design for supers, as well as a genius with tech. Think rich girl who had all the resources to make a difference, except she actually did. She made a name for herself by being the first designer to incorporate their powers into the suit. We see her become the icon we know her to be. Life couldn't be better. Then the cape controversy happens, and supers dying from cape related accidents start appearing regularly in the papers. The movies about her coming back on top despite it. Maybe even show that the other designers were paid by bad guys to add capes, but Edna only did it because she thought it was the trend, so of course because the other designers have some kind of protection, her name is essentially the only one being smeared. I should reiterate: DO NOT ABSOLVE HER OF GUILT. Make it very clear she made a serious mistake that cost many innocent supers' lives, but that doesn't mean she should have to pay for it the rest of her life. How does she do it? She remembers who she is, and what her God given talent is: designing super suits with the supers in mind. And thus, she threatens to start firing anyone who dares to try and add capes to her designs going forward, but because all these people have worked with her for years, not one of them dare to contradict her. If she says no capes, no capes it shall be. Before long, the cape trend dies out until they're only ever seen in Halloween costumes, and cape related accidents never darken a newspaper headline again. Until the ending, where Edna's walking out of a room for a meeting, leaving behind a newspaper showing a super being slandered in the papers, thus starting the lawsuits.

Others have said it, but you're definitely thinking of the "Jack-Jack Attack" short, which was an extra on the DVD and Blu-ray. Most Pixar discs have one or two extra shorts included, often one that's a tie-in to the movie itself. The other was usually shown ahead of the feature in theatres. They should all be found on Disney Plus. 37:37: It seems to me that Elastigirl is mimicking Tinkerbell in the original Disney version of Peter Pan. Think also examined her hips once.

7:30 The time period this movie takes place in predated Good Samaritan laws, which protect people from legal suit for negative outcomes from attempting to help people. 9:25 It depends. Some states consider schools to be public locations, which removes your privacy protections from recording. In some states, you do have those protections, technically, but only one person in the room needs to consent to being recorded, which makes the protection moot. (note, in other states you need consent from two parties or all parties)
