It’s sad to imagine that all those heroes Syndrome lured to the island, some of whom were Bob’s closest friends, all just wanted to relive their glory days just like he did. Frozone’s line of “I don’t see anyone from the old days Bob. Just you.” is a lot darker now.

One of the worst things about Bob's situation is that it's revealed in the Special Edition DVDs that among Bob's powers is a sort of Sixth Sense that allows him to sort of "sense" where immediate danger is. It's actually sort of implied if you look closely when Bob notices something wrong after saving that Jumper and Bomb Voyage blows a hole in the building wall after, or when Bob immediately notices someone getting mugged when his boss is lecturing him or when Bob is sneaking back home from a night of vigilantism and immediately noticed someone else in the room with him, only to find that it's Helen. So imagine living 15 years, knowing when and where nearby danger was that could potentially hurt people and not being able to do a damn thing about it. No wonder Bob is depressed after the time jump.

Syndrome acted like a superhero for only 1 minute & he made 3 major mistakes: 1) He threw the truck behind him without caring if it would crush anyone or explode. 2) He started celebrating that he damaged the robot despite the fact it wasn't defeated yet. 3) Once the robot attacked him he fled in the direction of the civilians he was trying to save. It's no wonder that after The Incredibles & Frozone defeated the robot later nobody seemed to remember Syndrome or care that he was missing.

8:46 "He's not alone. The fat guy's still with him." The scary thing is that Mirage was initially looking for Frozone, and only confirmed that the "fat guy" was Mr. Incredible after she saw their fire rescue. This means they already knew Frozone's location AND secret identity. They found Bob by accident. Syndrome would've definitely killed Frozone if she had recruited him instead, and she only took Bob because he was the one Syndrome wanted revenge on the most. Luckily for Bob, he and his family were strong enough to stop Syndrome from killing any more supers.

Some notes... because I'm a geek. 1: In the prologue, they all wind up living with the exact opposite philosophies. Bob wants to settle down; misses the good old days. Helen doesn't want to retire; becomes super-mom. Lucius wants to remain single; settles down with Honey. 2: Lily Tomlin went to audition for the role of Edna. Brad Bird did the voice and asked if she could do it, and she replied, "What do you need me for? You got it already." 3: When Bob and Helen argue after Bob's night out with the fire, him being such a large character on screen gave it the feeling of being very close to spousal abuse, which is why they had Helen get louder AND taller than Bob. 4: The "100 Mile Dash" was the only action sequence written out IN DETAIL in the script, because Brad Bird had it specifically laid out in his head. 5: The kid at the end that shouts, "That was totally wicked," was Brad Bird's son. Okay, I'm done rambling. Great reaction. And, yes, "Incredibles 2" next! 😊

The two old guys who said "You see that? That's the old school!" "Yep. No school's like the old school." are caricatures of Legendary Animators Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston, two of the Nine Old Men who animated the old pre-Disney Renaissance movies from Snow White to The Fox and the Hound. They were also voiced by Thomas and Johnston, were mentors to Brad Bird and whenever he showed his works in progress, including The Incredibles, they came up with constructive criticism for how to improve the story. They also made cameos as Train Engineers on Brad's first movie The Iron Giant. Sadly Frank passec away in November 2004, a couple of weeks before the premiere, so he didn't get the chance to see the complete movie in life.

That was a lovely tribute and I'm glad to see this bit of trivia acknowledged in the comments. However, I would like to add a minor correction about the end. Frank Thomas actually passed away in September 2004. Specifically, he died on September 8, 2004, 3 days after his 92nd birthday and nearly 2 months before the film's release.

Later on, as I got older, I took it down a little since I stared to add some weight that kinda affected me. However, after watching myself from now on, I still have that spirit. So much so that when I became a Sonic the Hedgehog gamer, I got the need for speed. Hell, I even have a customized license plate frame with his catchphrase engraved on it. With how many real life technological innovations are derived from military development, and how Syndrome got his wealth by selling weapons to various countries, I'd be willing to bet that the tech level of the Incredibles' world was inadvertently accelerated several decades by Syndrome's technical genius. When you think about it, The Incredibles is 1 of the Darkest Disney films given it's 1 of the few with a confirmed body count of more then just a few characters. Sure, as far as I can tell Atlantis The Lost Empire had the most, but considering most Disney films have at most just a handful of deaths, knowing that at least a dozen Supers were killed by Syndrome, a few others were killed from their capes, several of his guards were killed by the Incredibles, & the way he dies at the end is all pretty dark for a Disney film.

There's a fan theory that when Syndrome started out on his revenge plan, he went to Edna to have her make him a super suit, & since she missed those days she probably was alright with making him a suit. However, she included the cape with his super suit because she sensed he wanted it for bad reasons, & she likely thought it could backfire on him like it did for other Supers.

I would LOVE to see a short film, 15-30 minutes long, about this meeting. A late teens to early 20's version of Buddy Pine, passing himself off as a mere enthusiastic civilian with more money than sense, and Edna playing along while detecting all the various ways he's not a good egg. The twist at the end is that Edna was in financial straights, and he overcharged Syndrome to get back in the red.

Fun fact. The reason 'Bob' is a nickname for 'Robert', and 'Dick' used to be a nickname for 'Richard' (before *another* meaning of that word got more popular) was from a nickname convention from the 1700-1800s. Basically the pattern was, take the first syllable from your name, then chose something that *rhymes* with it. Rob, Bob for example. I don't know why we don't have more old nicknames like that, or why only a few survived until now, but yeah. That's why we have traditional nicknames for some names.

Originally, Helen wasn't going to fly the jet. Instead, it was gonna be Snug that we see on the photo when he says on the phone "Let me think...". He was going to die in the explosion and after Helen got into the water when the plane wreck crashes into the sea, she saw Snug's cap float up and after making Violet and Dash calm down, Dash asks what happened to Snug, to which she would shake her head in sorrow. The kids gasps and look at each other when they realized he died. Executive Producer John Lasseter thought that Helen should be the pilot but director Brad Bird was adamant on having Smug cuz he wanted a price to be payed, that someone had to die (that is a good guy). Later Brad realized that Lasseter was right as the scene was less intense when Snug piloted the jet, plus it necessitated a whole new character model to be made, a set with a hangar and landing strip, not to mention a whole scene or two with Snug so you'd feel sorry for him when he died later.

Amongst the things you don't notice as a kid, but pick up on as an adult, the memo on Bob's boss' desk details more penny-pinching schemes of his, including employees having to pay for their own office supplies, a by-the-hour parking fee, and pay deductions for phone calls and electricity use. There is further speculation about what happens to the company after Bob is fired, namely that either the CEO is terminated or the company goes bankrupt from legal issues because the CEO would rather look profitable than do the job of an insurance company.

Known for his work on The Simpsons and making The Iron Giant, 25 years ago. Animation legend Brad Bird truly created an classic and it still stands after 20 years. The comic book superhero vibe and family story dymanic definitely pulls from the Marvel age of comics (1960s) with Stan Lee & Jack Kirby's Fantastic Four. Great cast of voices, storytelling is great with all the humor, action and drama. The original score is great and it's composer was wide open for more great scores including the MCU's Homecoming trilogy of Spider-Man. Buddy/Syndrome's face and hair, Edna E. Mode's voice actor. It's Brad Bird himself (cool idea). This one got two Oscars: Best Animated Feature and Sound Editing. The 'Jac Jac Attack' short film is hilarious, gotta watch that one. Incredibles 2 did take a long time to make happen. It was the worth wait and just as entertaining. RIP to Elizabeth Peña to Mirage.

Please can we get Edna's backstory movie? Pleeeeeeeaase? Here's how I'd pitch it: No rags to riches story. We've got enough of those, and we all know goddamn well Edna Mode is too fabulous to have come from nothing. Born into the high life fashion world, the thing that makes her different is a desire to design for supers, as well as a genius with tech. Think rich girl who had all the resources to make a difference, except she actually did. She made a name for herself by being the first designer to incorporate their powers into the suit. We see her become the icon we know her to be. Life couldn't be better. Then the cape controversy happens, and supers dying from cape related accidents start appearing regularly in the papers. The movies about her coming back on top despite it. Maybe even show that the other designers were paid by bad guys to add capes, but Edna only did it because she thought it was the trend, so of course because the other designers have some kind of protection, her name is essentially the only one being smeared. I should reiterate: DO NOT ABSOLVE HER OF GUILT. Make it very clear she made a serious mistake that cost many innocent supers' lives, but that doesn't mean she should have to pay for it the rest of her life. How does she do it? She remembers who she is, and what her God given talent is: designing super suits with the supers in mind. And thus, she threatens to start firing anyone who dares to try and add capes to her designs going forward, but because all these people have worked with her for years, not one of them dare to contradict her. If she says no capes, no capes it shall be. Before long, the cape trend dies out until they're only ever seen in Halloween costumes, and cape related accidents never darken a newspaper headline again. Until the ending, where Edna's walking out of a room for a meeting, leaving behind a newspaper showing a super being slandered in the papers, thus starting the lawsuits.

And uses multiple real world places from here in the "Bay" throughout all of their films are instantly recognizable by Bay Area residents. Example the final battle scene happens around real world Lake Merritt in Oakland along with the freeway scene or Fenton's ice cream parlour in Pixar's "Up" movie.👏🏾😉👍🏾👏🏾

Fun fact: This film pokes fun at Marvel and DC. Here’s what I mean Elastigirl = Mr. Fantastic from Fantastic Four Violet = Invisible Woman from Fantastic Four Dash = The Flash Frozone = Iceman from X-Men Gazerbeam = Cyclops from X-Men The Underminer = The Mole Man from Fantastic Four

Have you ever seen/reacted to “A Goofy Movie”? It’s very good, and the voice actor for the principal is the same as Bob’s boss on “The Incredibles”!

Angelina might be one of my favorite people, gaming Incredibles fan, super bubbly and fun, as well as an athlete. Not only do I want to be around Angelina, but I also want to be Angelina. So cool. Also Mirage is voiced by Elizabeth Peña.

Hi Angelina, nice reaction. It's sooooooo hard to pick a 'best' movie from Pixar, there are so many truly great ones: Wall-e, Toy Story, Monsters Inc, The Incredibles, etc. BTW, a (belated) happy 4th, to all across the pond. ; )

I remember the first time I saw the trailer. That was before Michael Giacchino had his score together, and maybe before he was hired. The trailer used the instrumental opening theme from On Her Majesty's Secret Service, possibly my favorite Bond movie and certainly my favorite Bond score. (For Your Eyes Only is the best song, but never mind about that.) I have to believe that Giacchino was influenced heavily by John Barry's Bond scores, just as the filmmakers were influenced by the look and the dialogue of the Sean Connery era Bond films. Just another reason I love this flick.

I saw this movie in theaters when I was four, my parents tell me that when they are in the camper spinning uncontrollably I yelled "my mom also drives like that" (my mom was very good at the wheel, so skilled and drove very fast), so this movie makes me remember her

I'm sure it was done on purpose because you don't tend to have photographic memory, especially on those you had as a kid and this feeds on his obsession for his hatred against Mr. Incredible for doing him wrong.

Here's a fun little easter egg; Note the call letters of the plane Helen flies in the middle of the film ("India Golf Niner Niner' or 'IG99) .This refers to Brad Bird's previous film 'The Iron Giant' (1999)...😃

I may have only just realised this, but Mirage originally wasn't looking for Mr Incredible, she only refered to him as "the fat one" while tracking frozone. So when bob throws his boss through a wall, he outs himself as a super, and then when he refuses to be relocated for the sake of his family, he allows Mirage/syndrome to find him
